NINETEEN AMAZON SHORTS AUTHORS MAKE DREAM COME TRUE,
By Morgan St James "Morgan" (Marina Del Rey CA and Las Vegas NV) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
I am proud to be one of the nineteen Amazon Shorts authors who contributed to this excellent anthology. My story is entitled, "Saying Goodbye to Miss Molly."
I acted as reviewer on some of the stories, as did the other authors in this collaborative effort, and also read the final version several times. All of us have at least one short story on Amazon Shorts. It is truly amazing what a group of creative authors who write in different genres and styles can do with the same information. Readers will find everything from romance, to sci-fi---from mystery to paranormal and everything else inbetween in these beautifully crafted stories. We were all given the same set of circumstances to choose from and include in our stories. Some authors used more, some less, but in reading this book, it is quickly realized what can happen when an idea meets the fertile mind of a skilled author. I highly recommend this anthology to everyone. Thanks to RJ Buckley Publishing, there is something for everybody in this excellent collection of short stories! MORGAN ST. View From The Window,
This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
When I looked out the window facing me, my attention zoomed to the young woman sitting on the bench across the street in the park who was crying. I knew there was a story there. It quickly drew me in. Soon my imagination was creating a moment and the story began writing itself. Eighteen other authors experienced that same moment as they began writing their particular take on the view from the window. You, too, may experience what the authors' saw through their imaginations. (The view is on the cover of the book.) The stories are compelling, some more mind provoking than others, some simply entertaining. All are worth the read.

Nineteen Different Flavors to Savor,
By Pamela K Kinney (Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
When the nineteen different authors answered the call for a subject of seeing a world outside the window, they all came up with individualistic flavors that tantalized the taste buds of imagination. From horror to science fiction, fantasy, romance, and even mystery, they took up the challenge to give wonderful tales for every kind of reader. It's a perfect book to enjoy in a warm house , with a cup of tea or coffee by you side, or even as a beach read. Check out this anthology, for you might find the flavors very satisfying.

A World Of Possibilities,
By Matthew Pierce "Author/poet" (Grandview, IN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
The imagination is a creative force. You can start with a simple thought, or ideas, then from there watch as an entire world is created from just the tiniest seed. Reading takes us on many journeys, and adventures. We can live and love, die and be reborn anew. We can fail at everything and then achieve all in a moment. We can become immortal, or slowly fade with grace. Be a pirate, the good guy, or damsel in distress. Reading takes us to so many places, and all we have to do is open a book.
Writing is the foundation for that adventure. As a writer, we are only limited by our own imaginations. Again, an idea, a thought or suggestion can spark a phenomenon of an experience. I have recently had the pleasure of being a part of something like that. Something that started with a thought, and a group of Amazon-shorts writer's came together to build a world of amazement. The idea was simple, imagine you're in a room, any old room, and you can see a window. You see things going on outside that window, and then . . . That was where each author had the chance to take the seed and build their own little world, limited only by their imagination. 19 Authors came together to bring you an extraordinary book of short stories, from all genres. Each story is complex and brilliant in its own way, with a creative style and voices all belonging to one specific author. Then the stories themselves are so diverse, everyone can find a story they like in this omnibus, chances are that most will like this entire compilation. I am a fan of it myself, and not just because I have a story on the pages within, but I was amazed at some of these breathtaking stories. The story I have in the collection is called `Twilight,' with NO relation to the Meyer books. The story is about a soldier fighting in the war in Iraq, and he sees the good he is doing and understands that, but in a flash finds that it's time to come home. . . I think everyone will be blown away by this anthology, I know I was, and I'm in the book.

This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
This anthology expresses the epitome of literary creation. It is amazing to see how one idea is brought to life and with so many different perceptions. The variety of genres, styles of writing and creativity are rewarding throughout the book. The treasure of this anthology is in its diverse artistic power and the outcome for the reader is enriching.

If you could only read one anthology this spring, The World Outside The Window should be it.,
By E. Don Harpe "Harpe" (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
Nineteen highly talented and diverse authors sit at an imaginary window and look out at an imaginary courtyard. Each of them sees exactly the same scene, but when pens touch paper, when fingertips touch keyboards, magic happens, and the nineteen stories that unfold are as diverse as the authors. As in the old fable of the blind men and the elephant, no two authors see the same thing in the courtyard, and the resulting stories make this book a must read. Comedy, drama, pathos; sci fi, romance, and heart wrenching tragedy can all be found in the pages of this intelligent and well rounded work.
This is one of the best examples of modern era short story writing that I have been privileged to read. The stories are compelling and exciting, and The World Outside The Window is a satisfying book, one that will bring you back for a second, and maybe even a third look. E. Don Harpe, author KILLING FROST

THE WORLD THROUGH MY EYES,

They say you cant run from your destiny. Where the idea came from to brainstorm this project with the group is something I have never wondered about. What I do know is that today we have an Anthology of some finely crafted stories in "The World Outside the Window". 19 authors with 19 views looking through the very same window. 18 months of hard work, and wonderful comraderie, made this Anthology possible.
Originally from the Amazon Shorts program, where other works by the group can be found, this Anthology is proof of good citizenship, and execellent writing skills. Thanks to Amazon and RJB publishing, what you now hold in your hand is a literary treat.

An anthology for everyone,
By Mark Terence Chapman "Mark" (North Carolina, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The World Outside The Window (Paperback)
Whether you're a fan of romance, science fiction, the paranormal, suspense, or general fiction, you'll find something to love in this collection of 19 stories by 19 authors, all drawn around a central theme: the view outside the window of a very special place--a place where everyday people are leading extraordinary lives. The cover of the book gives an idea of what the authors saw, but not what they envisioned.
What of the two boys playing ball? Could they have an extraterrestrial visit? Does someone have a ghostly encounter? What's the mystery of the black rose? Who suffers heartbreak from the events of 9/11? These and many other questions are answered by the stories in this anthology. So snuggle into your favorite chair before a cozy fire, sip a glass of wine, and immerse yourself in the World Outside the Window. Mark Terence Chapman (Author of Sunrise Destiny, 2010 EPIC Award nominee, available from Amazon.com)

The World Outside the Window,

I feel compelled to write a quick review for this Anthology, not so much for my sake or my story within the collection, but for the other 18 talented authors.
When you read this book, with it's stories all centered around the title of the book, you will enjoy a range of tales that cannot be more different. No two stories are even remotely alike. The sheer variety of writing styles, genres and topics are the real strengths of this book. My fellow authors did a tremendous job, as did Rebecca Buckley who published a fine product. I won't name particular stories or authors only because they don't need my recommendations. Their work stands on it's own. I rate it a five. Try it, you'll be glad you did. - Jim Wilsky |
