Dr. David Khorram brings the polish and perspective one would expect from an astute medical mind, a dedicated parent and an impassioned wordsmith in this collection of short writings on life in the tropics, medicine and life's twists and turns.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened the pages of Dr. Khorram's book--a compilation of editorials he wrote for his local newspaper in Saipan. He's an eye surgeon who turned down offers awaiting him in America's leading medical centers to make a difference on this island in the South Pacific.
Dr. Khorram has more to talk about than eyes, though. He shares stories about life: life on the island (communication mishaps, island celebrations, fireworks horrors) and life which can apply to us all. His vignettes about gratitude, acceptance, encouragement and change were funny, uplifting and inspirational.

I had to read this book for my sociology class and it was amazing how he is a doctor like how I am in med school.
Amazing life he had.

I thourly enjoyed this little book. David Khorram has captured so much about living on a small island. The trials and tribulations along with the unexpected joys are all there.

Each story is only 2 or 3 pages and moves very quickly through his life as a father, medical doctor, and someone who has created a Montisori school for island residents.

Spend a few hours read this book. You will not be disappointed.

Author Khorram has taken some of his best columns that he wrote for a local newspaper and combined them with his ongoing wisdom and his medical and scientific knowledge and turned out a terrific book for living a high quality life, especially on a eco-friendly paradise such as Saipan. He captures island living by recounting some of the hilarious things that happen on a small tropical island and also some of the heart-rendering events in everyone's life. Some topics: Wanna lose weight? Will money make you happy? Is one religion better than the others? Better read the book for the answers... It's an entertaining and educational book - I recommend it to one and all. I enjoyed and shared many of the chapters with my teenagers. Interesting and well done!
