Could have been much better.,

A few nuggets but I was disappointed. I was really looking forward to this book because of how much I liked E-Dogs book (Making the Final Table). It was not boring but there was a lot of puff and it is a short book. If you play a lot of NL cash games, then I would give it a read. If you have not read any NL cash game books or you only play tournaments then I would pass. Sklansky and Miller have a new cash game book if you want to learn the technically side of NL cash games. Also Super System 2 has a great section for NL Holdem.
If your looking for chip tricks, I would recommend Rich Ferguson's video.

Not inspiring, perhaps. But not wrong.,

Many people, when they've reached a certain age in life aspire to write the next great American novel. Somehow it validates what they've done with the first fifty years of their lives. Then they end up either giving it up or writing pretentious, over-baked b.s. The same is often true of poker players who write books. They want to create some sort of indicator that they've done something in life, rather than just hauled in stack after stack, hand after hand. The problem is, there's only so many great poker books out there to be written. And in the attempt of writing a great poker book, we often get overly dense, overly complicated, and even overly wrong books, by name pros who are trying to distinguish themselves.
Well that's not this book. Anybody who has ever seen Esfandiari knows that he's not one to overreach. He is comfortable laying out what he knows about winning at the World Poker Tour, which is enough to make this book a useful read. But he doesn't try to create some new philosophy of playing, or try to throw a bunch of gimmicky stuff at the book just to wow some people. He's clearly not a math guy at the level of Sklansky, and he's no Negreanu, but who is? No, this book succeeds only because it does not fail, which, if you think about it, is kind of like how it feels to end up in the money. Not a big winner, but for the price, it's not a bad bet. And if you like Esfandiari, this isn't a bad one for the collection. Like someone else said, though, don't base your play on it.

This well done book fills a void as most books are for tournament poker.
Much of the beginning of book is autobiographical (but interesting). The only disapointment is the included cd is on chip tricks where a better use would have been more instruction.

This is the only book I've read about poker that I haven't liked. The whole book just tells over and over again how good Antonio is at poker.

If you want a book on magic tricks, buy this "poker" book.,
This review is from: World Poker Tour(TM): In the Money (Paperback)
I would guess the author hasn't won many poker games lately, and needed to make a quick buck by writing a cheesy "I'm a cool poker player book".
There is nothing of value or substance in this book, if you are a hold 'em player of even beginning level. Unless you want to learn how to do magic tricks. I thought the CD that went with the book might be redeeming and contain some useful poker lore. But no, it's just a primer how to do card/chip tricks. What the heck!! If I had wanted a magic book, I would have bought a magic book. If you want to read some excellent books on Hold' em, check out Dan Harrington's line-up. Don't waste your time on Antonio Esfandiari's book. It masquerades as something it's not- a book on poker strategy.

There are SOOOOOOOOOO many good poker books on the market today.
Your going to buy one from a guy who wears sunglasses while working out in the gym. I'm not saying the book is BAAAAAAAAAAAD it's ok.. barely You can do better for your 10 bucks. If your a WPT fan and you like this guy and hear him talk about himself then be my guest :) you won't be dissapointed

This review is from: World Poker Tour(TM): In the Money (Paperback)
This is a great book for learning how to win at no limit cash games. I have been playing all types of Hold 'Em for the last few years and after reading this book, my NL cash game winning percentage went way up. Thanks Antonio!
