5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for aspiring Photojournalists, December 20, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: World Press Photo 2009 (Paperback)
This is a stunning publication and is an excellent expose on the challenges and dangers faced by Photojournalists in getting the best photos of dramatic evenst for publication. It shows the horrors on conflict throughout the world, the pain and suffering of the helpless victims of war and terrorism, as well as being a 'snapshot' of the world in 2009. A must read publication for all aspiring photographers and in particular photojournalists.

4.0 out of 5 stars An eye for the camera, September 17, 2010
This review is from: World Press Photo 2010 (Paperback)
This is a soft cover book containing about 145 pages of photos, most of the full page size (11x9 inch ) format.
The stories, included, that are behind these photographs are done well, but they do not overwhelm the pictures themselves.
Some information about the winners of this world wide press photo contest is given too, and what the competition itself is. Some photographs are in a group, telling the story. Many of the accounts do not cover major news events of the day and with the exception of some photos from the Obama inauguration, most of the focus is not on well know figures, but the ordinary people involved in these events.
Some of the photos are `just' ordinary life, but still inherently interesting.
The number of photos and rich paper probably account for the high price of the book, especially since it is a paperback book
Those interested in photography, photo journalism, art, and even the coverage of world events would find this a book of interest.
