5.0 out of 5 stars UP, UP, AND AWAY!

Few of us have not taken a piece of paper, creased a few strategic folds, and then lofted our paper plane into the air. For those of us who still enjoy the fun, mischief, and creativity involved in such a pastime, here's the perfect book.

2.0 out of 5 stars A colorful but simple book,
This book has everything that makes a great airplane book except the airplanes. The designs are simple, most of these planes can be learned in any school room. At least one, one of the more clever designs, was previously published in the International Papar Airplane Book, which I feel is a much superior book. This book is more fitting for very young paper pilots...

This book has everything that makes a great airplane book except the airplanes. The designs are simple, most of these planes can be learned in any school room. At least one, one of the more clever designs, was previously published in the International Papar Airplane Book, which I feel is a much superior book. This book is more fitting for very young paper pilots with its simple designs and colorful tearouts. The explanation of flight on the author's web page is the best thing about the book and its not even in the book! The only thing this book has going for it is the World Record plane and the story about breaking the record. I felt the folding intructions for this plane were incomplete.

Few of us have not taken a piece of paper, creased a few strategic folds, and then lofted our paper plane into the air. For those of us who still enjoy the fun, mischief, and creativity involved in such a pastime, here's the perfect book.

Aerospace engineer Ken Blackburn and mechanical engineer Jeff Lammers have mixed science and innovation to give us everything needed.

Containing 100 full-color, ready-to-fold paper airplanes ranging from the simple to state-of-the-art streamlined, this colorful volume enables us to form the Basic Dart, do loops with the Stunt Plane, and even propel a replica of the NASA space shuttle.

In addition to the planes, the well executed text offers a plethora of information about aviation and flying. There's even a section on how to stage contests, and a flight log is included.

Up, up and away!

A terrific book - excellent for kids and adults. The explanations are clear and the planes are beautiful. It's everything you need to build and fly great planes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great paper plane book for everyone!, October 2, 2008
I still have my copy of this book I got back in 96 or 97 when I was young and now my nephew is 5 so hes starting to enjoy these sorts of hobbys. I Highly reccomend this book to anyone who wants to learn some of the basics of flight and how to properly build and launch paper airplanes (yes there is technique involved).

When I got this book it was packed with very cool designs for the planes that you just tear out of the book. Each plane comes with a number system printed on the planes as well as very detailed folding instructions. Each pattern comes with about 4 or 5 copies of each airplane. Some are better than others and some I could never get to work right (I was kinda young). If you want a really fun book pick this one up asap, you won't regret it!

If you do buy this book be sure to color copy each of the designs to save on your pc as backups. Im 22 now and im kicking myself for not doing just that for my now 5 year old nephew.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book I've ever read about paper airplanes., June 8, 1999
After I had red your book, I have to fold all of the airplanes for my son David. That was a hard work, because I had to fold some of them more than once. But David loved them. It is unbelievable that the Vortex will be able to fly. Very good !!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Ken Blackburn now Ranked 2nd in the world, June 28, 2009
This review is from: The World Record Paper Airplane Book (Paperback)
if you not a pureist (only folding with 1 A4 sheet paper) then this is the perfect book for you. Planes are the craft orientated type.
This means, getting down and tricky, using glue, tape, paperclips etc.
Probably the best choice of book for Kids, as the book comes with pre-coloured sheets at the back to use.
this book will still amase you with what cam be done with paper.
Ken Blackburn himself i have meet and u couldn't find a nicers guy, 'Salt of the earth'. And unlike the current world record holder, he's been quite happy to share his secrets since his WR. (which is inclueded in this book).

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these books!, May 3, 2008
This review is from: The World Record Paper Airplane Book (Paperback)
I think we own every one of these books, and we love them. My 5-yr-old son can do most of them on his own. We've been buying them for birthday gifts for everyone and they are a big hit.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than recycling, June 29, 2007

I have too much scrap paper. I was going to throw it out, but at the last moment I decided instead to buy The World Record Paper Airplane Book. Taking a sheet of scrap off the pile, I was able in a minute or two to make an Interceptor, which when launched sailed across the room and slid behind the bookcase. Scrap problem solved. I also discovered that if you make The Hornet with an extra fin in the back it boomerangs back to you when you throw it. Good times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!, January 6, 2009
This review is from: The World Record Paper Airplane Book (Paperback)
This book was the best gift my son received for Christmas--far surpassed any toy, and it entertained him his whole school break. He loves paper airplanes, and the author of this book gives a delightful account of his lifelong love of paper airplanes. He gives three copies of each airplane, so when you rip one or even two, you still have another! They fly, are fun, and are easy to fold. We will be giving this book to others as a gift for years to come!
