This Cd accomplished so much for me. It opened my world of reggae, with Maria de Barros, track #5 and a sweet flavor of brazilian reggae. Chris Combette, track#9 with some very rootsey reggae in french. Alpha Blondy on track#10 will rock any dance party. I could not wait to get my hands on more Alpha Blondy. I'm still looking for the other's solo projects. Everyday, I find something else that I like on this cd.

First, let me begin by saying this is a thoroughly enjoyable set, the songs overall are first rate. I've listened to it dozens of times in my store and never tire of it. The Amazon editorial review pretty much has it right on, but it didn't mention the solid cuts from Alphy Blondy (#10) and Kiassa (#12). I'm very much looking forward to hearing more of Kiassa - her voice is strong the hypnotic song makes a nice end to a groovy disc.

BUT, I can't give it five stars because it totally neglects Spanish Speaking Latin America. Nothing from Los Cafres? Gondwana? Los Pericos?? Los Fabulosos Cadillacs? HUH? Not just an overisght, but nearly criminal...

I love reggae, but have purchased my share of lame CD's. I hit the jackpot with this one ... the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. Great dinner music or background music for a party. I also bought Euro Lounge and like that one as well.

I love this CD. I've had it for almost a year and I still love it. The thing I like is that it's not just your ordinary reggae, some have different beats, I think all of them are in different languages from around the world. They all have very different sounds- kind of Arabian, some Indian, and African. Very neat. They all have such a great melody, you'll find yourself singing whatever the words sound like. I definitely reccomend this CD! It's amazing! My favorite song is Notre Devoir, it's probably the happiest and I also like Pas De Problems. Definitely buy this!!!

This is really a fantastic reggae CD! Perfect to listen to, by the pool, with a glass of rum and a cigar!!

I am usually a sceptic about Putumayo collections or samplers. I have gotten some very mediocre compilations from them. By the same token, I have gotten some real winners. This recording, in my humble opinion, falls into the winner category. Admittedly reluctant to leave the time-honored comfort zone of the late, great Bob Marley, and a few other all-time great Roots & Dub artists, I decided to explore their legacies in other countries around the globe. This C D did not disappoint! I have been introduced to a host of new ( to me, at least ) fabulous recording artists whose stellar talent bring the joys of Rasta music to a whole new level. While keeping the basic structure & familiar beat of Roots Reggae, each composition uses the marvels of new sound technology & the welcome addition of more instruments to enhance & glorify & distinguish the message. I am entirely a fan of this C D and recommend it to any Reggae enthusiast.

Excelente recopilación de música Reggae; si estás buscando un disco para ir de viaje a la playa, este es perfecto. La selección de agrupaciones y canciones está bien balanceada pues contiene música en varios idiomas (Español, Francés, Portugués entre otros). Adicionalmente las piezas en francés son un éxito!

I bought it. I listened to it several times. I donated it to my local library. I hope someone finds it more enjoyable than I did. It wasn't bad. I just didn't enjoy it as much as some of my other Putumayo purchases. I loved Women of Africa, Latino! Latino!, Acoustic Brazilian, Music from the Chocolate Lands, Cuba, Afro-Latin Party, North African Groove, Women of Spirit and Mali. Overall, Putumayo puts out quality products that give you a taste of world music from every continent!!

absolutely great album. every song is a winner. trust me ... dont pass on this unless your looking for dancehall type reggae ... this one is a complete chill album.

I love reggae, but when my friend burned me this CD I was a bit skeptical. Turns out this is my new favorite CD. The beats are awesome!! Each reggae song is infused with a little flavor of the country from which each singer is from. You will LOVE this CD!!
