5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome book!, September 13, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The World of Scales: A Compendium of Scales for the Modern Guitar Player (Plastic Comb)
This is "the scale book"! It's the most complete scale book I have ever seen. This book really does cover the world of scales. The author has obviously done tons of research and makes the information easy to understand. There are some pretty wild scales in this book that you really should spend some time with. I found the Indonesian pentatonic scales to be really cool. And what is really sweet about it, is that I can now see how to use these scales in my own music.

The explanation of the modes is great. I finally understand how the modes work! I have read alot of other scale books but this one gives the best explantion of the modes. I can now apply modalization to any scale I want.

I found the book to be very user-friendly. The layout is great. The scale fingerings are easy to read. Another real cool thing about this book is its coverage of chord theory. I now know how to determine the chords that will work with any scale.

This is the best ( and most used )referance book I have. The large diagrams make learning scales very easy, and with this many scales you need it to be easy. Everything from simple pentatonic to the obscure is covered. Nice job!
