Book Description

September 30, 2009 Capital Cares
* As featured in Forbes.com! *

For many, the current economic crisis has clearly demonstrated that 'Big Business' and too much 'me' have almost destroyed our world. But visionary business coach Will Marre steps in to show us how to be leaders of meaningful lives and a better world.

By joining Will's trailblazing approach to civic activism through self-knowledge, you ll learn how to become an engine of change and be inspired to:

* Rethink where you are in your life plan

* Focus on what really matters to you - your Promise

* Get off the starting line and race with like-minded individuals to make a difference - big or small.

Will shows us the power of individuals and corporations, like:

* Chris who, though he couldn't afford to build a school for all the Sudanese Lost Boys and support his own family, nurtured and paid for one Lost Boy's U.S. college education.

* Mike the Surfer who developed a new line of shoes, sandals, shorts, and shirts made of almost entirely recycled, sustainable, or organic materials made in humane conditions - and made a fortune.

* Kim who saved her struggling training school by enlisting the help of every employee and transformed the company into a powerhouse within eighteen months - without a single lay-off.

In tumultuous times, for readers who are not ready to give up, and are ready to take responsibility for driving the future, Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner is a beacon of hope and a model for civic activism and corporate social responsibility.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Is Your Promise?, November 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
I never asked myself, "What Is My Promise". In fact I never really thought about My Promise until I read this masterpiece of applied philosophy for today by Will Marre. Will writes that "We cannot know what our true Promise is until we know Who We Are."

This book is an action plan for learning how to know who you are, what your promise is and how to use what you learn to create a sustainable life for yourself and for everyone on this planet.

From understanding how we are all on the grid, all the time, how we work for the money in order to stay on the grid and how so much of what we do has no sustainable value, Will Marre takes each reader through his or her own unique life, its unique value and teaches how we can make a huge difference in the world.

This is no warm and fuzzy feel good book. This book is vital to everyone who wants to create a sustainable life that counts.

Will Marre is the applied philosopher of this new century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Talking to Will, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
"Save the World and Still Be Home for Dinner" is a remarkable book from Will Marre. Marre, who teaches at UC San Diego Extension, asks readers to stand up for something that really matters to them, to make their unique contribution to a sustainable future and add value to the lives of others. Marre can sometimes be spotted on campus in a tee shirt that reads "Will Work For Meaning." He advocates a future with sustainable abundance for all and it is this choice, he contends, that could be the most important choice in human history. Marre is an Emmy Award-winning writer, speaker and expert on leadership strategies and social responsibility. This book will change how you think about change.

There are so many books out there about the "green revolution" or about personal growth or achieving life balance, but none of them are like Will Marre's "Save the World and Still Be Home for Dinner." This book stands alone. It doesn't conveniently fit into any category, which is one of the things I love about it. It speaks to me and my role as a businessman, a husband, a father, a son, a friend, and as an individual who passionately wants to make a positive impact on the world around him. And not just in one dimension. It is truly refreshing to have so much valuable information and inspiration woven into one neat little package. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is seeking to make sense of this chaotic world in which we live and make their unique contribution right where they stand. Today, not tomorrow. The stories in Will's book are infectious and inspirational. Will does a superb job weaving them together with advice, tools, and new thinking that will no doubt inspire all who read it to do their part in saving the future for generations to come. That's a big claim, I know. But read it for yourself or go to one of his websites. He's the real deal. This is the right book for the right time. (I personally know what a lot of people are getting for Christmas this year!) Thank you, Will!
