5.0 out of 5 stars What Is Your Promise?, November 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
I never asked myself, "What Is My Promise". In fact I never really thought about My Promise until I read this masterpiece of applied philosophy for today by Will Marre. Will writes that "We cannot know what our true Promise is until we know Who We Are."

This book is an action plan for learning how to know who you are, what your promise is and how to use what you learn to create a sustainable life for yourself and for everyone on this planet.

From understanding how we are all on the grid, all the time, how we work for the money in order to stay on the grid and how so much of what we do has no sustainable value, Will Marre takes each reader through his or her own unique life, its unique value and teaches how we can make a huge difference in the world.

This is no warm and fuzzy feel good book. This book is vital to everyone who wants to create a sustainable life that counts.

Will Marre is the applied philosopher of this new century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Talking to Will, July 28, 2010
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
"Save the World and Still Be Home for Dinner" is a remarkable book from Will Marre. Marre, who teaches at UC San Diego Extension, asks readers to stand up for something that really matters to them, to make their unique contribution to a sustainable future and add value to the lives of others. Marre can sometimes be spotted on campus in a tee shirt that reads "Will Work For Meaning." He advocates a future with sustainable abundance for all and it is this choice, he contends, that could be the most important choice in human history. Marre is an Emmy Award-winning writer, speaker and expert on leadership strategies and social responsibility. This book will change how you think about change.

There are so many books out there about the "green revolution" or about personal growth or achieving life balance, but none of them are like Will Marre's "Save the World and Still Be Home for Dinner." This book stands alone. It doesn't conveniently fit into any category, which is one of the things I love about it. It speaks to me and my role as a businessman, a husband, a father, a son, a friend, and as an individual who passionately wants to make a positive impact on the world around him. And not just in one dimension. It is truly refreshing to have so much valuable information and inspiration woven into one neat little package. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is seeking to make sense of this chaotic world in which we live and make their unique contribution right where they stand. Today, not tomorrow. The stories in Will's book are infectious and inspirational. Will does a superb job weaving them together with advice, tools, and new thinking that will no doubt inspire all who read it to do their part in saving the future for generations to come. That's a big claim, I know. But read it for yourself or go to one of his websites. He's the real deal. This is the right book for the right time. (I personally know what a lot of people are getting for Christmas this year!) Thank you, Will!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Changed My Life, November 14, 2009
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
Although I recommend books to family and friends on a regular basis, this is my first "formal" book review for a book that has changed my life, and if you read it and follow Will Marre's instruction and techniques, it will surely change your life as well.

I have learned so much from Will Marre over the years that every time I give advice to colleagues and friends, I find myself quoting Will. At a time when American people and organizations desperately need leadership, motivation and inspiration, Marre delivers a philosophy that can be applied to every aspect of your life or business TODAY.

I really believe that great leaders and mentors give you insight, opportunity, room to grow and inspire you to realize your full potential. Will Marre is one of THE great leaders, mentors and a "personal coach" of our time. Spend an hour with him, and you will know your purpose in life, what you stand for, and the changes you are going to make TOMORROW that will change your life and the lives of those around you.

Will cares about people, he cares about the planet and he cares about the future of our children. He sincerely wants EVERY PERSON to realize our full potential, our "Promise" or noble intent and then express it on a daily basis in our personal life, relationships, professional lives and to the world.

In "Save the World" Will takes you on a journey to find out who you really are, what you came to do, and why it matters. After reading this book, I find myself thinking daily, "what is the greatest impact I can make today?" The content and principles have truly formed my foundation for a fulfilling and purpose-driven life. From the content in this book (with a little personal coaching from Will) I found my "Promise" and continue to express it daily. I have changed the way I manage my business. I have changed the way I communicate with the people I love. I have changed the way I think about the world and those that my actions will affect. I can honestly say that Will Marre changed my life.

I recommend this book to anyone seeking some kind of change in your life or those that have an inner longing to do something more fulfilling in your life. AND for young high school graduates or college students that are wondering "what do I want to do with my life..." This book is a perfect Christmas or Graduation gift!

On a personal note: Will, thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars In transition? Discover how to change your world and still have a life!, December 16, 2010
By
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
This book puts a wonderful fresh perspective on how we have established roles for ourselves and how these roles actually trap us into being actors that are not representative of our true values, skills, or interests. The world is rapidly changing around us, at a pace that no one can keep up with. There is an opportunity for every one of us to get off the stage or off the grid and be who we really are and leverage the gifts and the passions we have. Will Marre provides an inspirational and insightful perspective on how we can make a difference by changing our world and still have the life we truly desire. I am reading it for the second time to capture my life experiences in relationship to the thoughts in this book. A perfect book for those who know their lives are in transition. Or, for those who know there is a better life for themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Timed Book for Me, April 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
Will Marre must be psychic. Save the World and Still Be Home for Dinner spoke to both the inner and outer me. This book is perfectly timed for those, like me who are considering important life changes. Save the World gave me a clearer voice about my leadership, my personal and social responsibilities, and what it is that I want for myself and my life. I appreciate that Will did not shy away from the intra-personal and spiritual search. After all if I am not clear about my promise to self, my efforts in my world are less than authentic. Read this book along with Marre's blog.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing, informative and inspiring!, March 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner (Capital Cares) (Hardcover)
I read books for my work and for clients literally every week. I read business and leadership books, metaphysical books, and non-fiction inspirational stories to name a few. I read this book over a few days and then read it again. Will Marre has a specific point of view and he is unequivocal when sharing it. Many times I find authors who try to cover all the bases, not offend anyone, say something that anyone can agree with and just help people feel good for the time they are reading the book. This book is a no apology call to action that reaches across social distinctions, gender, ethnicity, race, religion and all manner of identity and expression. No matter who you are, what you believe or what you do you will find something here that will touch your heart, change your mind and move you to show up as more of you. Thank you Will! I am finding as many ways as possible to share this idea with clients and friends.
