This review is from: World on a String (Audio CD)
This is a breakout CD, perhaps Kermit's best, with Ellis Marsalis on piano (Wynton's Dad) and many fine musicians on the disc. Listen to the snippets and you'll hear what I mean. I'm not saying this because I've known Kermit for years (which I have), or because he played at my wedding (which he did -- and my brother's and sister's weddings too), but because others who have never met Kermit or heard him play live tell me how much they enjoy this CD.This music will take you to a tiny bar in the Treme neigborhood of New Orleans, a bar called The Little People's Place. It's a place where young and old, black and white, all mingle and enjoy great music and fun. There is excellent production on this CD, so turn down the lights and turn up the music. Many musicians perform "Glory of Love" but few do it this well. It's no surprise, coming from the neighborhood where Louis Armstrong himself grew up and played. |
