4.0 out of 5 stars Melodic & powerful bass&drum-driven power pop!, May 27, 1998
This review is from: World of Today (Audio CD)
Flop's back-to-their-roots follow-up to their glossy Sony/550 release, 'Whenever You're Ready'. Produced by Kurt Bloch (Fastbacks, Young Fresh Fellows), 'World of Today' is powerpop at it's finest; melodic, powerful, at times beautiful, at times a little manic; not dissimilar to the Pixies & Buzzcocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should have been a classic..., September 14, 1999
This review is from: World of Today (Audio CD)
This is by far my favorite of all the Flop discs. The concept of the album is great and Rusty's lyrics guide the listener through a variety of life experiences such as education, "North Mason Middle School", and work "Two Martian's Working". The lyrics are sick, twisted and obsessed with ugliness and illness. "Junkies bath, Saints all mis-behave, Lines engrave, we've all seen better days" is one of my favorite verses ever. The overall sound of the album is a mix of punk, pop, rock, and metal driven by duel guitar sickness that keeps each of the songs fresh and draws influences from all over the place. The cover of "Yellow Rainbow" by the Move is worth the price of the CD in itself. Produced by Kurt Bloch so you know it's gonna be a treat
