5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy !!
Does everything it's advertised to do so, if you follow the directions it should work, when using hair dryer we have to be careful to change the wattage to 1600 as 50 watts is for small appliances. I have used it in Europe and it works Great.

This review is from: World Travel Converter Kit with Deluxe Dual Converter 50/1600 watts (Electronics)
this is one of those things that has been really helpful to have on my overseas trip. i got it so that i would be able to recharge my camera's batteries (and thus save on buying batteries), as well as plug in my beloved laptop. the converter itself, as the picture shows, comes packaged in a box with several plug adapters for your various electronics. The set includes one adapter for great britain, hong kong, africa; two adapters that cover asia, africa, europe and the middle east; and one that covers australia and new zealand. the voltage converter itself only connects to the round-holed outlets.

so yeah, after all that description...i have had a positive experience with this product. it is packaged logically and conveniently in its own box. it is on the less-fancy side of things, but that's okay because i am, too. it's not a very large expense and comes with the useful plug adapters. woohoo.

i have one complaint about the converter itself (but not the plug adapters). it is the largest and heaviest part of the package, it's about the size of a small point and shoot camera and much heavier. when i plugged it into the wall to charge my batteries, it was so top heavy that it would not stay in place on its own. i eventually had to jerry-rig a support for the converter + charger combination so it could charge the batteries. the whole contraption worked though and i had charged batteries in the morning. just be prepared for some top-heaviness and subsequent improvisation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product does what it should to do, August 27, 2005

I bought this package for my recent trip to Europe. I used these adapters for my laptop, Camera and Cell Phone. It has one dual wattage converter and few adapters.

I think "Tax Lass" must have used electrical equipment rated higher than 1600 watts (for heating) or 50 watts (non heating) to burn it.

These converters no matter which model you buy make sure to read the product manual which you are using it with so that you do not try to draw more watts than these converters are made for.

My laptop worked like a charm with these adapters. I used these in Germany and Italy with no problem on my first trip. Than I took this kit to Australia and worked so great.

I would rate this as one of the tools evey traveler should have.

***** 5 Stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost everything you need in one package, August 27, 2005
This review is from: World Travel Converter Kit with Deluxe Dual Converter 50/1600 watts (Electronics)
f you're heading overseas, and you want to use your electronic Gadgets this kit will give you everything you need to make sure your equipment works over there. All of the pieces fit nicely in the included case, making for easier packing.

It has a Dual Wattage ( 1600 Watts for heating appliances and 50 watts for small electronics ) converter which will allow you to convert 220 volts down to 100 volt so that it matches your appliances overseas. Comes in a nice box which helps to keep it togather. I have used it on my recent tours to India and Brazil and it works Great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must item for any world travler !!, August 29, 2005
This review is from: World Travel Converter Kit with Deluxe Dual Converter 50/1600 watts (Electronics)
I bought Dual Wattage Converter for a trip to Germany. I've since used it mostly to keep camera batteries charged, and for curling iron. It saved me a few times, like when the plugs in southern Spain were different than the north. I recommend this for any world travelers.

I used this on my 1500 watt straightener according to the directions and within 4 minutes there was smoke coming out of my straightener. This product is junk.

3.0 out of 5 stars To be Used With Caution, February 25, 2006
This review is from: World Travel Converter Kit with Deluxe Dual Converter 50/1600 watts (Electronics)
The plug for this converter worked properly in the outlet. However I was not aware of how hot this would make my curling iron and I burned my hair. I left the iron on low setting and I could use it, but still had to be very careful as it still was hot, and I had to cut my hair when I returned home as the ends were burned. This is a product to be used very carefully.
