Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-7-- An easy-to-read, easy-to-understand introduction with full-color, accurately drawn illustrations. The history of submersibles is traced from the building of Turtle for use in the American Revolution to contemporary nuclear-powered vessels like Nautilus . However, most of the attention is focused on submarines of World War II. A section of clear and remarkably detailed cutaways depict their equipment and crews performing their daily tasks. One of the book's most satisfying features is the informative picture captions, which expound on and extend the usefulness of the text. --Don Reaber, Meadowdale High School, Lynnwood, WA
