Book Description

September 25, 2012 World of Warcraft
In this enthralling original graphic novel published in a landscape format, you will meet the PANDAREN, one of the most beloved (and mysterious) races in World of Warcraft! Written by Blizzard's own Micky Neilson (the World of Warcraft MMORPG, World of Warcraft: Ashbringer and World of Warcraft: Curse of the Worgen), with art by fan favorite Sean "Cheeks" Galloway (TV's Teen Titans Go and Wednesday Comics), this story ties directly into the upcoming World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria expansion pack.

World of Warcraft: Pearl of Pandaria introduces Li Li Stormstout, a precocious young student who lives atop a giant turtle called Shen-zin Su. Like the rest of the wandering island's pandaren, Li Li comes from a line of adventurers who left their homeland long ago to explore the world...and she wants nothing more than to chase that dream. But when Li Li runs away to find her famous uncle Chen, how will she survive Azeroth's perils?

1.0 out of 5 stars "Kindle version" incompatible with most Kindles October 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
UPDATE: I guess Amazon is listening to at least some comments. This book is now available for iPad and the Cloud Reader, but still not the e-ink Kindles.

Pearl of Pandaria is a beautifully illustrated graphic novel with an immersing story. However, I would have never known this from the "Kindle" edition, since it's not compatible with the two different Kindles in my household. On top of the product page, Amazon states, "Start reading World of Warcraft: Pearl of Pandaria on your Kindle for PC instantly, no Kindle device required." In fact, this book is not compatible with the Kindle for PC reader or Cloud reader. It can only be read on the Kindle Fire and the Kindle app for Android.

The "Kindle version" can NOT be read on any of the e-ink Kindles or the Kindle app for iPad. It can be opened on an Android smartphone, but a phone screen is not large enough for reading a graphic novel. This is especially puzzling since Amazon has recently started making digital graphic novels available for Kindle Touch and Paperwhite. Because of Pearl of Pandaria's lack of compatibility with any of my devices, I had to return the "Kindle version" for a refund and purchase it from another retailer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Physical Hardcover Book Review October 26, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I purchased a physical hardcover version of the book (how archaic) and it is an amazing and beautifully drawn graphic novel! For anyone who's a WoW fan, you'll surely enjoy the story. If you play the game as well (which is probably the main reason you bought the book), it tells the backstory of Li Li and you won't have to wonder why she's following Chen around in the game while you're questing. Also, I feel like this would be a good (PG) children's book.

5.0 out of 5 stars So fun October 24, 2012

I enjoyed this so much! I do play the game so it just enhanced it for me. My kids all think it is cute. Now it is well written and the art is so good. The places that are in the book are in the game so if you are a WOW player like I am it makes you feel like hey I've been there. It is like visiting your old school or something like that

Format:Kindle Edition
I have a physical copy which is a gift, but I also wish to have Kindle version. I downloaded a sample to my Android phone with Kindle app but found that it is almost meaningless. The Kindle app allows to enlarge each strip a little but that does not help 'cause you can't read the words inside.
My iPad, iPod Touch and PC, have all installed Kindle app. But this comic is limited to Android users with big screen. So should I get a Kindle Fire or Google Nexus 7 for comics? I don't know, but I will wait and see if there more new digital comics are coming in this digital way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Say Hello to the Pandaren November 16, 2012
By David
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is an excellent introduction to the Pandarens from World of Warcraft. You get to follow LiLi on her journey to find her uncle Chen. The art brings the story to life. So sit back and enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not Great October 30, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the rather interesting art style and that kept me reading but the story seemed rather lacking and uninteresting at times. It explains a lot as to what's going on in the World of Warcraft universe currently but only serves to fill holes rather than be a good stand alone story like some of the others. Best part of the whole book is the artwork at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars A real pearl... of Pandaria.. October 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I enjoyed it, overall. Gave a lot of background to the characters that may have been lacking in the game World of Warcraft. Easy to read on my Kindle Fire.
