4.0 out of 5 stars High quality action figure with great art
This is the third WoW action figure I have purchased and the first of the Series 4 that I own. This particular model has amazing detail in both the molding and the coloring. I very much like the pose, he is screaming, head slightly turned, back hunched over and arms raised as if he is about to attack; a battle is imminent. Unlike other figures that are just standing...

3.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't stand up.
This is a very solid, very heavy, very detailed toy. It will look great on a shelf. That being said, it has zero points of articulation and will NOT stand up. There is no base, the legs cannot be moved at all, and even putting the nicely made weapons in its hands does not help the fact that the feet are so positioned that it falls over every time. Plan on making a...

This is the third WoW action figure I have purchased and the first of the Series 4 that I own. This particular model has amazing detail in both the molding and the coloring. I very much like the pose, he is screaming, head slightly turned, back hunched over and arms raised as if he is about to attack; a battle is imminent. Unlike other figures that are just standing there, this figure is frozen mid action.

This Series 4 figure is noticeably higher quality than my previous figures which were Series 2. The plastic seems to be of high quality and has some weight to it. He is one of the larger figures I have seen, comes with two weapons and there is a hip flask accessory that comes attached to his belt. The painting is superb and has a lot of details. It's very obvious to spot a counterfeit product by the sloppy paint and this is no counterfeit. (You would be surprised the amount of counterfeit WoW figures I have found in Asia).

Unlike the other reviewer I was able to adjust the feet and legs so that he would stand up. His legs move at the hip and the feet rotate. I did need to adjust it a bit to get it from falling over. I have had problems with these figures in the past. I own the rogue that has fallen so many times one of his daggers broke. But this figure so far has no fallen over. Even so the lack of a base does annoy me so most likely a will try to rig something up. I would appreciate if they would at least sell bases as a separate accessories, anything I would rig up will be amature and detract from the beautiful art that this figure is.

There is no base, the legs cannot be moved at all, and even putting the nicely made weapons in its hands does not help the fact that the feet are so positioned that it falls over every time. Plan on making a base of some sort if you want to display this toy. I would have rated this 4 or 5 stars had it not had this problem.

I got this because I love highly detailed figurines. If you're getting it to set it up somewhere, you'll not be disappointed. However, if you're going to insist on handling it, you will find out quickly that this is *not*, in fact, the toy that you have been looking for. I would have scored it better in educational value given the attention placed on the superficial anatomical structures, but since hyena people don't really exist, it's moot.

For $8 this is amazing. He's big, he's detailed and stands perfectly if you move his feet. Both legs pivot.

Gangris is the first WoW figure I've purchased and I must say that overall, I'm impressed. The detail both in sculpting and painting is extensive, right down to fur texture and shading. Gangris' menacing expression compliments the aggressive, battle-ready stance perfectly. Unlike many ultra-detailed action figures these days, what you get when you open the package actually does look as good as the photos on the box. This is a heavy, durable figure that isn't going to break if he falls over (which is quite likely, but I'll get to that). The paint is high quality and not prone to chipping or flaking.

I do have two gripes with this figure, though. The first is his much lamented lack of a stand, because this figure cannot balance on his own. I managed to get mine to stay up by inverting his sword-like accessory, but a stand would have been much better. My second issue would be the size of his head; it looks disproportionately small compared to the hulking muscle of the rest of him and consequently a bit silly.

In all, though, this is a well-made figure and a worthy addition to any fantasy collection...just be ready to bring your own stand.

This review is from: World of Warcraft Series 1: Gnoll Warlord: Gangris Riverpaw Action Figure (Toy)
Shortly before I stopped playing WoW I started collecting the DC figures for the World of Warcraft game. I have always enjoyed the artwork from the game and these figures help bring it to life with great detail. I picked up this figure recently to continue my collection and because it reminds me of all the gnolls that killed me over and over in Redridge and Westfall. While I own almost all the figures that DC has made, this is the first one I've been pretty disappointed with. The painting and modeling are very well done and the plastic is heavy and feels durable. The big problem is that he needs to be durable because the figure is going to keep falling off your shelf over and over due to it not having a base and being very top heavy. I tried to adjust it any way I could but it will not stand up without being propped up against a wall or something. This is the first figure I've had so much trouble making it stand and having a figure 'sleeping' on your shelf just isn't any fun. DC has included bases in the past for top heavy figures (not as much they should have, but still) like the Tauren hunter and the Dranei paladin. I'd rather spend a few more bucks and be happy with the figure than have one that spends its life on its back.
