Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Drawing inspirations from their influences Coldplay, David Gray, Pearl Jam and Counting Crows, Crash Parallel's debut album is a combination of strong melodies and intimate lyrics. Having penned the entire album the band tells stories that listeners can relate to pulling from personal experiences as well as tackling important socially conscious topics.

Their debut single and title track ‘World We Know’ delivers an influential eco-conscious message with inspiring lyrics and a video with powerful imagery challenging our generation to take action and protect our world, with a chorus that asks us "what are we waiting for?"

The Album was recorded at Chalet Studios in Ontario, produced by Dan Weston (Attack in Black, City and Colour) who also helped co-write “Not That Simple” and “Save Yourself” on the album and mixed by Mark Makoway (Buck 65, Sarah Slean, David Usher, Mat Mays).

4.0 out of 5 stars A World We Know, August 22, 2008
By Julie Taylor (Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I wouldn't say that there is anything earth shattering about the sound here, but traditional sound is traditional sound for a reason: We like it. The lyrics are actually an improvement to many current artists, and I've been listening to this CD nonstop since I bought it a few weeks ago.

If you like the sounds of Coldplay, Finger Eleven, and at times, Daughtry, I'd definitely recommend this CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars This will sound very familiar, May 16, 2008
Not much in the way of new ground being plowed here by these guys from Toronto, more big ballad power pop. Parts of it ("Straight Jacket") sound like Gordon Lightfoot doing Big Country. The music's pretty good, aside from annoying tendency to repeat a key phrase way too many times in a song (the above, and "Not That Simple", which is . . . that simple). And the lyrics; " . . . you drive me like a car but the parking lot is full . . ." Oh god. They tend to get preachy too ("World We Know"). It's difficult to recommend this, it's a debut album and it shows, and the style is very shopworn. But they sound alright, and as we all know, the ability to write a pleasant hook is something that can be built on.
