Book Description

Fourteen year-old Daniel Harwick's powerless days bullied at Ekhart Academy are about to end. Traumatically catapulted into a beautiful but terrifying world within, Daniel finds himself on the run from Pirates, Dragons, Shapeshifters, Spider-Elves, Griffins, Krakens, Cyborgs and even "Death" himself. Reluctantly, Daniel joins with a strange band of ragtag warriors questing for the legendary Wielder who alone can defeat the spread of the Necrom Void across the Living Land. But as Daniel begins to exhibit a strange ability to escape overwhelming danger his friends wonder if the Wielder may be the least one they expect!

“James Somers is one of my favorite authors. His pacing, creativity and the unique spiritual perspective he brings to his stories never disappoints.” – Jeremy Robinson, author of PULSE and INSTINCT.

PRAISE FOR: THE REALM SHIFT TRILOGY

"The Realm Shift's intrigue is second only to its action!" -- Wayne Thomas Batson, author, The Berinfell Prophecies and The Door Within Trilogy.

"The Realm Shift doesn't just draw you in, it sucks you in! The story is full of mystery, adventure, danger and inspiration. I highly recommend it!" -- Brian Tubbs, Pastor, Sligo Baptist Church.

"The Realm Shift is written in a grand mythic type of storytelling reminiscent of Tolkien's Lord of the Ring Trilogy. It grabs the reader from the get-go and takes you on an intense ride through its thrilling, unstoppable trajectory!" -- Rai Aren, author, The Secret Sands.

"The Realm Shift is spiritual warfare as you've never read it before. An awesome book!" -- Betty Dravis, author, Toonies Invade Silicon Valley and 1106 Grand Boulevard.

PRAISE FOR: THE CHRONICLES OF SOONE

"...an intense, action packed sci-fi story with a heart. A gripping story, not to be missed!"—Jeremy Robinson, Bestselling Author of: PULSE, INSTINCT & BENEATH

“Sparks of Creative Genius: Somers' strength is plotting. No bog down scenes here. It just keeps amping. Wait until you meet the cyborg assasin Vale. He alone adds a rogue suspense mechanism worth the price of admission. The Vorn, the Barudii, the transdimensional rift--all very cool elements. A Story Worth Hearing!”—Wayne Thomas Batson, Bestselling Author of: The Door Within Trilogy, Isle of Fire & The Berinfell Prophecies

“Everything an action sci-fi fan could ask for: Full of battle. From the opening scene I was captivated. Woven into the action are moral dilemmas and tragedy, coupled with a unique perspective on the battle between good and evil. An excellent read.”—Craig Alexander, Author of: The Nineveh Project & The Assassi

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great book! October 30, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
James Somers has written another great book for all ages, proving that a book doesn't need graphic sex or vulgarity to be good! It is a fast read, one that would be perfect for younger readers/teens with the right amount of fantasy and imagination without getting dragged out. A young boy, who is used to being the one picked on, is knocked unconscious by bullies, in his dreams he finds he has "powers" beyond the normal and is thrown into a new world where he is important to those around him. These dream friends accept him, respect him and encourage him. A great story for anyone who has ever felt "awkward" in their own skin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy fans rejoice... June 29, 2009
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In James Somers entertaining book "a world within" a young man named Daniel suddenly finds himself in another world after he is attacked by some bullies from his school and hits his head. In this entertaining easy to read story Daniel meets up with a group of unusual friends as he is being attacked By Spider elves. The story follows Daniel's progress through a sword and sorcery type of story with a strong religious undertone.

I would advise this book to young adults, fans of fantasy, sword and sorcery buffs, and there are some dragons in there too. The language is appropriate for young people as there is no cursing or sexuality. It does of course contain a fair amount or the usual sword and sorcery type of violence. I found the story a bit short. This may be because it is directed at a young adult reading level, or because it is the first of a series. As an adult I still enjoyed reading the story although at times events were a bit to easy to guess at.

The story reads like a Terry Brooks novel, which I mean in a good way. I will be getting the next book when available. ...Did I mention it has Dragons...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Enough June 20, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition
Although the book kept me entertained most of the time the plot was very obvious and I found that a little frustrating as the story unfolded slowly and I already knew what was going to happen. The story and writing are a little too simplistic. I have read other teen books with more depth and though it was enough to keep me reading till the end, it isnt enough for me to continue the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding! February 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Had a hard time putting this one down. Started reading it Saturday. Stayed up way too late trying to finish it. Couldn't do it. Went to church the next day. Long day at church, as I'm a pastor. Finished reading it during the Super Bowl! Let me tell ya...the Super Bowl was an exciting game (didn't get resolved until the last few seconds), but this book was even better than that! I had to finish it! My only complaint is..."Where's the sequel???!"

2.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't finish it November 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found misspellings, poor grammar and a tedious story, to be totally honest. On the first page the author, or person transcribing the text, used the word "plane" when the word "plain" was correct. Short choppy sentences. Couldn't finish it. Glad it was free.

I listened to this in audio format via audible.com. Any time I can get a book in audio, I do so for better emotions, pronunciation, accents etc...
A good story for the young readers (YA) specially the boys would enjoy this book! With action, adventure, sci & paranormal in it, even dragons! Quite enjoyable.
The author & the narrator did a great job in the delivery of this tale!
