It's been way too long!,

I've been a fan of Robert Fleischman ever since I first heard him on w/ Vinnie Vincent Invasion. I later found out that he was the singer for Journey before Steve Perry. I often wonder what Journey would have sounded like had Robert stayed w/ the band. Alas, this wasn't to be but Perry's voice was perfect for Journey so no regrets. I'm on my second listen even as I write this review (purchased from Amazon.com), and am enjoying it quite a bit. I'd read a review on a music news site which stated that it was a good album but was missing all those high notes that Fleischman is so well known for... well true as this statement may be, it does'nt take away from the overall sound of the disc. Robert's become more of a song writer since he recorded w/ the Vinnie Vincent Invasion back in the mid '80s and his growth is well deminstrated on this his 2nd solo effort... although he's always been an excellent song writer... just check out some of the material he wrote w/ Journey, which was then sung by Steve Perry on his first record w/ the band.High points: The albums opener, the excellent title track "World In Your Eyes", I love the way he sings the chorus on this track. The second track, "Heaven To Me" gives a good picture of what Journey w/ Fleischman just might have sounded like... guitarist Josh Ramos Does a pretty good Neil Schon throughout the album but particularly on this track. And lastly, the bonus track "Reawaken" is a real gem. On the whole, the entire album is excellent. Probuction, writing, playing and singing are all spot on. If I do have one complaint about this release its that it far too short for a guy who's been so sparse w/ his recorded output. But as luck would have it, Mr. Fleischman has a few more irons in the fire and will soon be blessing the world w/ some more releases as well as a new web site in the not to distant future. As for "World In Your Eyes," well it's been a long time comming, and way too long between recordings... I hope to hear more of Robert in the future... and hopefully his first solo album, and first band's repective releases will eventually be rereleased on cd.

What a Voice,

This solo effort from one-time Journey and Vinnie Vincent Invasion frontman Robert Fleischman deserves more than 3 stars. It may be relatively formulaic AOR, but it's GOOD formulaic AOR. The kind that makes you miss the glory days of Journey, Boston, and Foreigner.
World in Your Eyes has some fantastic songs, of which the title track, Heaven to Me, and Just One Kiss are the best. Even the "worst" songs on this album are still pretty good. Fleischman's voice is the real highlight of the album. He sounds both warm and powerful at the same time, and at times sounds exactly like Peter Gabriel (which can't be a bad thing). Maybe I just don't have an ear for that kind of thing, but I don't see any problems with Kelly Hansen's production job. His background vocals were a nice addition too. And after that Vinnie Vincent album, it's nice to hear Fleischman singing something a bit more adult than "Shoot You Full of Love". All in all, this is another great Frontiers release, and is sure to please most (OK, maybe not that last guy) AOR/melodic rock fans.

Powerful AOR/melodic rock solo album featuring Josh Ramos and Kelly Hansen,

This review is from: World in Your Eyes (Audio CD)
"World in your eyes" is the second personal album by American AOR singer Robert Fleischman, originaly released in 2002 by Frontiers records resuming a solo career put forward in the late 70s.Fleischman is mostly known for briefly fronting "Journey" in 1977 and while also being a part of the `80s-early`90s glam metal scene as the frontman of Vinnie Vicnent's "Invasion". On "World in your eyes" Robert returns to the melodic rock sound through which the singer made his debut in the industry. His allies on this effort are guitarist Josh Ramos ("The Storm"), bassist Marvin Sperling, drummer Richie Onori along with Kell Hansen ("Foreigner", "Hurricane") who produces the album and provides harmony vocals. Now, it has to be clear that "World in you eyes" is a substantially guitar driven album with Ramos being just as much a leading figure as the singer. The guitar parts are thick and up-front delivering a plethora of Josh's characteristic melodies and riffs. Robert makes use of his mid to bass vocals somewhere between Steve Perry and Kevin Chalfant, clearly avoiding the high pitched singing style he used on "Invasion". In terms of songwriting the album is in line with the works of "Two Fires", "The Storm" and post-millenim Journey. In fact the title track and "The Crush" are powerful melodic hard rockers while eqally interesting is the groovy "Only room for one" and the optimistic "Just one Kiss". Still the album's greatest moments are probably found on the slower songs "Worlds aren't enough" and "Over my head", the latter alone make the whole album worthwhile an AOR masterpiece at its own right. Overall "World in your eyes is an ideal purchase for fans of "The Storm", "Two fires", "Ramos" and of course "Journey".
