Outstanding Tae Kwon Do Reference!,
By Brian Eiserloh (Dallas, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: World of taekwondo: Training to unite the mind and body (Hardcover)
This has got to be one of the most comprehensive books I've ever read on ANY subject. Everything you'd ever want to know about Tae Kwon Do is covered, including principles & ideals, theory, history, health & injury, tournament rules & regulations, techniques, language & etiquette, and poomse (forms). Step-by-step descriptions with photos cover all manner of fist and foot strikes (including the striking surface used with each), poomse (palgwe & taegeuk forms), combinations, step matches, techniques, self defense, breaking techniques, and so on.Also, as a physics graduate, I found the sections on momentum and the application of the laws of kinetic motion as applied to Tae Kwon Do punching and kicking techniques (moment arm, speed vs. weight, etc.) to be extremely interesting. Whether you're looking for a comprehensive pictorial guide to Tae Kwon Do forms & techniques or a theories-and-methods text about the art, this book is a must-own. |
