An utterly breathtaking album - buy this cd right now!,

I first heard the track "Solace" on a local public radio station and immediately got my pen and paper ready to write down the title - I was determined to find the album. Upon listening to the sound samples at Amazon, I still couldn't determine if the entire cd would be as good as that one track but went ahead and ordered it anyway. All I can say is I have no regret what-so-ever! This is such a beautiful cd and as a die-hard fan of Enigma it's very difficult for me to find another cd within the genre that I really like. The album is filled with ambient rhythms, ethnic and Gregorian chants, flute samples, and very exotic instrumentations, yet is definately more ambient than world. In fact, much of the atmospheres and soundscapes as well as the piano melodies are quite similar to the music of Patrick O'hearn and not at all like Robert Miles as indicated in one review. What's even more interesting is that just about every other band sounds cheesy when they incoorperate Gregorian chants into their music but this is definately not the case with this album. In fact, this cd along with Enigma and Mike Oldfield's "Songs of Distant Earth" are probably the only three cds I've heard that blend Gregorian chants perfectly to the music - and so sensually as well! In a nutshell: So far, this album along with Enigma's "Screen Behind the Mirror" have been the only two cds released this year to literally send chills down my spine upon first listen! It is no doubt a must-have for fans of Enigma, Deep Forest, Patrick O'hearn and ambient/world music!

Speachless ! !,

I don't even know where to start... I am a very big fan of Enigma, Arkenstone, and Robert Miles and it is VERY VERY difficult to find artists that are as unique and that touch my soul. Well... I have found another one! I have researched David Lyndon Huff and I am absolutely AMAZED! Most of the time we all like one or two songs off of a CD. If we're lucky it might even be a few... but rare is it that you can listen from beginning to end and not skip one song and at the whole time you are listening... you are being filled with positive energies. This is what Worldbeat does with my soul and I highly recommend anyone that has this love for moving music to invest in this CD.ABSOLUTELY DIVINE MUSIC DAVID ! ! I am searching more of your music... I LOVE THIS!!,

A lot of people seem to compare this to Enigma. I just bought Enigma's LSD album and Worldbeat's first track does sound like them, but it is a style of its own. I love the rhythms and the bass. You can lie around and just soak it up or get on your feet and feel it move you. Either way is a delight!!

One of the finest new age compilations out there today...,

I purchased 'Worldbeat' after perusing through Amazon.com searching for some good New-Age brand of music. I am a fan of world music especially if it is new-age world music, a sampling of different cultures on a CD. What gives this album is there are no lyrics, no vocalists except for the ocassional gregorian chant choir. This is a instrumental classic, meaning that the power of this album comes from the instrumental movements arranged by David Lyndon Huff, of classical composing heritage. 'Worldbeat' is a one hour sojourn through the many layers of world music, samples can be given in each song from the latin chants to the african drums to the latin american percussion. These are merely just some of the examples.
The cover and back art design is very soothing and beautiful. It shows ancient spheres of the world with modern design on the actual CD. The music is rich with flow and soft ethervescence. All the songs are great to listen to. If you need good before sleep music, this is the perfect album for you. If you wish for some nice party atmosphere music, this may do the trick. I really enjoyed this album and I look forward in the near future in purchasing more 'Worldbeat' music from this artist. It may sound similar to Enigma, but for me it sounds like the early Enigma, the most enjoyable kind!

I enjoy all the melodies on this album and the arrangements, voices and instruments make this an extremely enjoyable CD throughout. The title markets toward a World music genre but I think this stands on the merits of just great music.

Wow, a powerful album, akin to the finest music of Enigma.,

This is a trmendously rich album, literally teeming with gregorian and african chants, flutes, and of course, drums. To me, the music sounds most like the earlier works of "Enigma", in which "singing" took a backseat to chanting and drumming. The music on this album stunned me with its excellent integration of chant and drums, as well as the various rhythms that support it. If this album had been "Enigma 5", I have little doubt that it would have had tremendous reviews. Of course, "Worldbeat" is a bit less prestigous than "Enigma", and that is a shame. Taken in full, this album is as powerful and moving as anything "Enigma", "Delerium", or "Deep Forest" can hope to produce.

Oh Boy is this Fun,

This is a really fun compilation CD of World Beat Music. Many of the CDs in this genre are pretty "thumpy" with smushy overdubs and trite loops. This one is truly fine and loads of fun. I can play it straight through and not feel as if I've been locked into listening to a remix of the same thing over and over and over with the same beat from tune to tune. Another good CD of this type is Professor Trance and the Energizers! Get this CD, put it on and have a really fine time! If you're driving, try not to tap the gas petal too hard...

Too close to Enigma for comfort,
By Eddie "Alexxus" (Romania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Worldbeat (Audio CD)
Or at least this is what the album sounds to me. By no means a bad album, it still fails to impress me in ways that other world musicians do. Maybe it's the fact that it lacks the personality music from other artists like Banco de Gaia or Shpongle have. I agree it is a good mix of different music from all over the world, but it seems to me that the main point was lost in the mix somewhere along the way. It is the kind of music that is good to play while you're going around the house doing your things and not paying much attention to it. Anyhow, it does not grip you even if what you are doing is just listening to it, so soft that I find it hard to focus on what's going on. If you want music to relax on, you should go for it, but if you look for something more involving you should look elsewhere.
