4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - a solid enough album, but not the band's best work, July 9, 2006
This review is from: Worlds Apart (Audio CD)
I must preface this review by making it clear that I am a huge DC Cooper fan. I'll buy just about anything he lends his amazing voice to, and generally think he walks on water. That said; I was a bit disappointed with Silent Force's third album Worlds Apart. Truthfully, as much as I enjoy the first two Silent Force albums I never felt the band quite lived up to its potential.

Worlds Apart didn't immediately impress. The new logo and cover art all scream "budget" and if I didn't know who was singing, I probably wouldn't have given the album a second glance. As to the music, it's about what I've come to expect from the band. DC Cooper sounds terrific as always, and Alex Beyrodt is a fantastic guitarist. It's the songwriting that seems stuck in a rut. A lot of the songs on Worlds Apart feel like extras from the Empire of Future and Infatuator sessions. It's your basic melodic power metal with a Judas Priest vibe. Not bad by any means, but not what it could be. It does grow on you though. Each time I play it I tend to like it a bit more.

Fortunately the band would rebound in a big way with 2007's Walk the Earth, which is far and away the best thing Silent Force has ever released. If you're a Silent Force and/or DC Cooper fan, by all means pick this one up. Just know that it's probably the least impressive of the Silent Force albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars They do it again!, March 9, 2007

Tell me, can these guys make a bad album? So far I've been blown away by every album I've picked up by this band & there seems to be no sign of them slowing down. 'Worlds Apart' is Silent Force's third album, & it continues to show how this band brilliantly takes power metal to another level. OK, so "brilliant" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but in a world full of power metal bands it's nice to be able to identify bands that stand out on their own & not sound completely like all of the other well known bands that are on the scene such as Primal Fear or Metalium, or maybe even the almighty Hammerfall. I still think so far 'Empire of Future' is the best album from Silent Force, but believe me you won't be disappointed with ANY release from this band, & this one is definitely no exception!

4.0 out of 5 stars High Octane Power Metal, October 10, 2004

This review is from: Worlds Apart (Audio CD)
This is the third album from Silent Force,a band fronted by D.C. Cooper the former singer of Royal Hunt.
Not too different from the previous disc Infatuator.Worlds Apart is high octane Power Metal with lots of double bass drums and speedy guitars and of course the super high vocal notes of Mr. Cooper.
The keyboards are better on this one with some cool trade offs with guitar. The guitarist is obviously from the Yngwie Malmsteen school of guitar playing.Sounding like a clone at times.Just listen to the track Merry Minstrel where he completly borrows from an Yngwie track called VooDoo.( found on Magnum Opus. )
D.C. is clean and powerful as usual, hitting notes only Tony Harnell from TNT can hit.
Most of the tracks are fast paced rockers,Worlds Apart,Heart Attack,Hold On and Heroes are favorites.
I would have given this 5 stars had they stretched out a bit and added a little more Progressive elements to this album. They are all exceptional musicians capable of more than just paint by numbers Power Metal.Even if it is top notch Power Metal.
