About the Author

Martin Kers was born in Rijsoord, a little village on the river 'Waal'. The riverbanks, the high dike and the flat polder behind it were the playground of his youth. Later on he completed his artistic education at the Rotterdam Academy of fine arts.Since the late seventies he has worked as a professional photographer. The magical reality of nature and the silent landscape of his youth are the greatest inspirations to his photography.Thereby, just like a fine art collector, he searches for colour and composition.Commissioned by various magazines, tourist information offices and other customers he regularly produces travel reports on landscapes, animals and traditional tribes. To this end he travels extensively abroad. a.o. Japan, Tahiti, Patagonia, Zimbabwe, Oman, The Middle East, Far East. Etc.

I bought this book for my father-in-law's 80th birthday. He has travelled on many different trains around the world, and for his birthday is going on the Ghan with his wife. He was thoroughly delighted with the book, as I was when I received it. The photos are truly amazing, along with a well written and informative introduction to each train journey. When buying a book online such as this it is hard and you do wonder what it will be like. For anyone who is interested in train travel and good photography, I can asure you this book will meet these requirements.
