Have you heard reference to the "Sword of Damocles", "For want of a nail" or "Pyrrhic Victories"? Well this collection of stories will not only demystify those references, but give you the story behind those references, cluing you into discussions, even improve your conversation skills! I read this book for the first time in the fifth grade--my sister in high school had it. My personal experience has been that I laugh just a little easier because of the "World's Great Stories." This is a good read for those who want to understand a little better what on earth people are talking about! P.S. This is a must read for those Star Trek enthusiasts, especially you Next Generation lovers. Capt. Picard made references to many of these stories several times!
