2.0 out of 5 stars A rip off
I am a huge Guns N' Roses fan and enjoy getting to learn all of the shocking stories about GN'R that tend to surface around;however this DVD is a total rip off--take my word on that one. Don't let the false advertising for this DVD trick you--all that is on this DVD is what is supposed to be a "film" on Guns N' Roses that has pretty much everything any hardcore GN'R fan...

2.0 out of 5 stars A rip off, April 8, 2006

This review is from: The World's Greatest Albums: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (DVD)
I am a huge Guns N' Roses fan and enjoy getting to learn all of the shocking stories about GN'R that tend to surface around;however this DVD is a total rip off--take my word on that one. Don't let the false advertising for this DVD trick you--all that is on this DVD is what is supposed to be a "film" on Guns N' Roses that has pretty much everything any hardcore GN'R fan already knows about the group, some rare live performances of GN'R songs, which, while they are cool performances, are either just presented as excerpts or during a middle of an interview with some of the people that are in this DVD (mostly rock journalists and maybe a few musicians--who really cares there)while the snippets of Izzy Stradlin's voice that Stradlin recorded for this DVD about Guns N' Roses really aren't even all that impressive either. There are some good photos of Guns N' Roses that are to be found as a bonus feature on this DVD,and the "film" that is on this DVD has a little bit of really good footage from GN'R's St. Louis 1991 show which resulted in a riot after a fan had a camera in the audience and Axl Rose had gotten mad and had decided to take the issue into his own hands, but besides those two small things and a GN'R fact that I had never known about until watching this DVD,this DVD is not worth either the time or the money. If you want a collection of Guns N' Roses DVDS,go get the official releases ("Welcome To The Videos",the "Use Your Ilusion I" concert DVD and the "Use Your Illusion II" concert DVD,and then find some rare GN'R DVDS and maybe even "The Axl Rose:The Prettiest Star" DVD). This DVD is an embarrassment and a disgrace to both Guns N' Roses and GN'R fans who patiently wait for the release of "Chinese Democracy". Give us loyal GN'R fans something we don't know or already have--and give us the full deal on it as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not authentic Classic Albums, April 18, 2007
By
This review is from: The World's Greatest Albums: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (DVD)
I feel totally ripped off by Amazon for listing this to make it look like it's part of the Classic Albums series. THAT series features interviews with actual band members, producers and fellow musicians. THIS DVD is part of a series featuring a disclaimer indicating, "This film is unauthorised and is not associated or approved in any way by present and past members of Guns N Roses...".

1.0 out of 5 stars A joke!, July 21, 2007
This review is from: The World's Greatest Albums: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (DVD)
I Bought this tittle, thinking in the great BBC's "Classic Albums" Series, but it's a total fake.

All the footage is a crappy vcd sourced, with a bunch of nobodys talking. And, oh yes, Izzy Stradlin appear... at least his voice.

Very sad.

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible disk--all talk and hardly any filming of the band, December 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The World's Greatest Albums: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (DVD)
So here is the deal, these two guys spend 95% of the disk talking and only 5% filming of the band. DON'T waste your money on this garbage. I would give it zero stars if I could.

dont buy, the footage is very averege, izzy stradlin does not say one word, the three people talking about the album and band seeem to think they know the band personally....which they dont..and they speculate on who broke guns and roses up and one guy blames slash...best wait till a authorised version comes out...but in general.DONT BUY

3.0 out of 5 stars great footage from "live at the ritz '88", September 7, 2007
This review is from: The World's Greatest Albums: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (DVD)
While I'n not that wild about the concept of this dvd, it's got some great excerpts of "the gunners" from "live at the Ritz '88" which is an awsome show. Even though the footage isn't up to the video standards of the nineties, the energy of the show warrants a dvd release in itself. If Geffen owns the rights to that show, they should release it proper, maybe with a little tweaking here and there it could be brought up to decent levels. Also my copy of the dvd has a glitch in the St. Louise footage where Axl jumps into the crowd, could this be the work of Mr. Rose trying to keep an embarrassing moment from view?
