Book Description

July 7, 2009
From the creators of the #1 New York Times bestseller The Book of Useless Information-a collection of even greater insignificance.

More useless than ever before! Impress know-it-all friends with this all-new hodgepodge of frivolous facts and silly statistics that no one really needs to know. But honestly, how cool is it to find out that...

? There is a place in Maryland called Monkey's Eyebrow
? Giving yellow flowers is a sign of bad luck in Russia
? One brow wrinkle is the result of 200,000 frowns
? Paper can be made from asparagus

This is the book that will also tell you...

? The meaning of 'mageirocophobia'
? Where it is illegal to kill a butterfly
? Huckleberry Finn's remedy for warts
? What bodily fluid the Romans used as a hair treatment

And much, much more!

More About the Author

In 1995, a secret society of Britain's foremost thinkers, writers, and artists formed to trade and share in what founding member, playwright and journalist Keith Waterhouse, would call "totally bloody useless" information-usually over a pint or two at a local pub. Now, The Useless Information Society regurgitates its bizarre findings for American readers in this first of what they threaten will be several volumes.

Noel Botham is chairman and founding member of the UIS.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not All of It Is Useless Information, September 19, 2010

This review is from: The World's Greatest Book of Useless Information: If You Thought You Knew All the Things You Didn't Need to Know - Think Again (Paperback)
Do you know how many languages are spoken in Africa, when the first coffeehouse opened in New York, or how many miles the average person walks in a lifetime? You'll learn those things and much more if you read "The World's Greatest Book of Useless Information." Much of the material in the book is in fact useless, but there are several factoids in the book in areas such as science and history that are worth knowing. I received the book as a birthday gift and was especially amused by the arcane laws that are in effect in some states of the Union. The book is a fast read, so you won't waste too much time wading through the truly useless information herein.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made a great gift, December 30, 2009

This book is full of odd information. Some of it is useful, some are halarious and some are useless. But it is fun to read and share. We joke about my husband knowing useless information and how he should go on Jepardy, so when I found this book it was just something I HAD to buy! It made the perfect "gag" present that is giving the family info to have a chuckle over. A book to be enjoyed by all who pick it up.

Highly recommend.
