If you know who Bettane is, you do not want this book, March 8, 2007
This review is from: The World's Greatest Wines (Hardcover)
This first significant work by Michel Bettane to appear in any language in years is just a silly coffee-table book. The world's most thoughtful and thorough wine writer has apparently sold his name to a book of photographs with no serious content. Some of the featured wineries are oddly chosen and would seem to have been included for commercial reasons. Anyone who already owns a few wine books does not need this one.

Potential, May 8, 2007
This review is from: The World's Greatest Wines (Hardcover)
I thought the book had very interesting insights into the story of the "world's greatest wines" but stopped short of being a comprehensive guide. It succeeds however as a broad outline and is useful none-the-less.
