Hit It.,

This review is from: The World's Not Big Enough (Audio CD)
This album is a departure from atomic rooster for John Du Cann and perplexes me as to why this album was not released in 1977 and further perplexes me as to if this album was not released, why it did not become at the very least, a top 10 hit in the UK and the US. The album is ingenious. Tracks like Fashion Fantasy and Throw him in Jail are fall along the lines of punk and rock. This is not a progressive rock album in my opinion and sounds more like a pop album, but with taste. A couple of years after Du Cann released this album, he returned to Atomic Rooster and released the album 'Atomic Rooster'. The second to be named so since There first release in circa 1969. The track 'only one night' is humorous as it seems to almost mock the 1950's 'blue moonish' feel, but is nonetheless a great track. After Du Cann joined Atomic Rooster, he left after recording one album with his counterparts Vincent Crane and Paul Hammond. Sadly, Crane and Hammond both committed suicide during the 1980's. Du Cann is the only remnant of Atomic Rooster now left, but his vocals and musical talent exceed any of today's standards. Bravo John. I always will model my musical playing and style after yours.

This review is from: The World's Not Big Enough (Audio CD)
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various recordings from the 60's and 70's.
It took twenty-two years for John Du Cann's "The World's Not Big Enough" to see the light of the day in 1999. Hidden in the musical vaults of the past the Angel Air release not only provides the original LP tracks but a myriad of bonus material. For those that have been mesmerized by his work with Atomic Rooster (I have collected every note from the band) be prepared for a much different approach. The tracks are reminiscent of a combination of the Cars and David Bowie (not as ambitious). Not one composition is even four minutes! It may be hard the first time around to comprehend the change from Rooster's intensity, gloom, and improvisation to a basic rock and roll production. The only cut on the CD that may conjure images of John's early 1970's style would be "Exodus." With twenty-seven tunes to digest and the opportunity to finally hear the lost record, set your mind clear of preconceived notions and judge this on its merits and not against the mighty Rooster. Enjoy the music and be well, Craig Fenton Author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent"
