Book Description

June 18, 1999
Take nine explorers of mixed talents and specialties, one of whom is not what he seems. Give them an anomalous stellar system with two habitable planets to investigate. Mix in a unique blend of plants and animals, all which use electromagnetics in diverse and unpredictable ways. Add a boatload of traumatized refugees, a variety of empaths, some telepathic felinoids, and a sprinkling of trouble. The Kellerin system is waiting for you. Come and visit.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This book is intended for the general reader, but it's also specifically for those people with fibromyalgia and myofascial pain. Do your family, friends and co-workers just "not get it" when it comes to invisible illness? Do you sometimes get the feeling that they think it's all science fiction? Would you like that to change? Show them the difference. Take them on a trip through the Kellerin System. It's the first entertaining way to teach others about these conditions, and I hope it helps some people with unexplained aches and pains understand what these conditions are all about. -- A reader

5.0 out of 5 stars Worlds of Power gives worlds of satisfaction, December 20, 1999
By
This review is from: Worlds of Power, Lines of Light (Paperback)
Being an empath is never easy, but when enduring the season of change and carrying the emotional onslot of a first time deep space traveler, it is nearly devistating. Devin Starlanyl has woven a magical tale of fiction, based on fact, that carries the reader far beyond the reaches of our galaxy. With the turn of the first page, "Worlds of Power, Lines of Light" ceases to be a book, becoming instead a ticket to paradise. As with the first paradise (Eden) Kellerian has a few serpents to contend with. This book is a must read for anyone who loves science fiction, and should be on the required reading list for anyone who has a friend or family member suffering with Fibromyalgia. I simply could not put the book down, in fact most of the time I forgot I was even reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak, May 31, 2002

Mark Ostermiller (White City, OR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Worlds of Power, Lines of Light (Paperback)
I could not imagine how this book could possibly help my family understand my condition of fibromyalgia. I bought it in desperation, to help them to understand my pain. What I got was a weak science fiction story with the main characters suffering from pain that seems to purely psycological in origin.
I hate to hack on a writer so much, it's just that the review on this site seemed to imply that it would help my family understand my pain. I had to look very hard for any sembelance of real fibromyalic suffering.
Not a bad story, but don't for a second think it's going to help your family understand the daily despair, suffering and stigma that comes with the disease.
