When originally published, this guide provided meaningful, interesting, useful information about spiritual retreats located throughout the U.S.and a few located in other countries as well. John and Mary Jensen (the authors) provided address, brief descriptions, and telephone numbers. This basic information was at the time of publication adequate to contact retreat locations. However, since publication, many of the phone numbers have changed. Some of these properties no longer provide services, and, of course, new locations are not included at all. I am hopeful that the authors will write a second edition, as it would prove to be a most useful guide. When they do, I recommend that they include maps locating the positions of these retreat centers so that by merely glancing, for instance, at the state of California, one can locate the locations of these centers. Despite the dated information found in this book, it is still somewhat useful, merely less so than would be a more up-to-date compilation.
