This game is one of my favorites. This zany, turn-based strategy game in which teams of worms battle each other to the death with weapons like sheep and banana bombs is great for hours of fun. Also, with support for up to 6 players hotseat or over LAN, it is a great party game.
My only problem with the Sold Out software distribution is that for some reason they felt the need to add a Shockwave launcher for the install that bizarrely requires that you set your XP font to "small" or "normal" rather than large. This is silly.

This game is cheap and fun. You can play online with people from around the world, even on 56 dial-up. The game came fast, and has the instruction booklet on the disc so you can read it on your computer.

Let me start by saying Worms is a fantastic game. For those unaware, the basic premise is you have a team of worms, trying to kill via damage or drowning other teams of worms, using weapons ranging from a shotgun to an exploding sheep, and everything in between.
There's some negative reviews of this game, and they basically fall into two camps. 1) "This game should have been a patch/option pack on worms Armageddon" probably true, but irrelevant if you don't own Worms Armageddon. Basically, the complaint is that they are the same (fun) game, but if you own one, it's not worth getting the other. 2) technical issues. I have 2 laptops, one running Vista and one running XP. the game will not run on the Vista one and the XP one has some random glitches - colors inverting, nothing being visible, or data files not found. Let me be clear - as of today, there is no known way to make this game run on an Vista laptop with an Intel graphics card, however, it should run on Vista in general. (info: [...]) I haven't played around with all the compatibility options on my XP machine yet, but it seems that the problems are intermittent, and restarting the game has always solved them. This product on amazon claims it is XP software, and the shrink wrap has a vista compatible sticker on it, but it has intermittent problems for me on the former and complete inoperability on the latter. Having never heard of Sold-out software before, I was a little leery, but for naught. Their installer is a little annoying to people who know their way around a computer, but helpful to computer novices. Bottom line: Worms is a classic, just plain fun game. Worms World Party has one of the better selection of weapons in the series. If you run XP, prepare for some odd graphics and sound issues. if you have Vista with an intel accelerated graphics chip, this game will not work for you.
