All The Best Elements Of 31Knots, July 23, 2010
This review is from: Worried Well (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of this band for many years, and I realize that no one else may have heard of them. This band has a way of combining Talking Heads sensibility, metal/math rock guitars, and cabaret music. The results are something very immediate, determined, being both poignant and unique. They use mathy, running guitar lines, explosive and abrupt changes, and a lot of different dynamics between songs. There's rhythmic, edgy piano songs, too. The band can be both exuberantly loud and whimsically subdued.
This album brings together all of the best elements found on the band's previous recordings. This is a very cohesive, polished and consistent product. The album is definately very experimental, but also concise, being perhaps their most focused work. I would also say that these are probably the best recordings I have heard from this band.
This is a very good indie rock band who do all of their recordings at home. It's hard to explain 31Knots. You just need to give them a try. Definately recommended for lovers of guitar music.
