5.0 out of 5 stars Great Band and Even Better Album
This is a great album from Drop Dead, Gorgeous. I am new to the band and I am so happy I found them. They are a great band and this album will not disappoint. I would recommend it to everyone who likes good music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Murder mystery concept album?
I liked DDG's first album becouse of the piano and the singers vocal style and the sad melodies.

In this album, its not that melodic, but in exchange its become darker and chaotic. I suggest you listen to it with good speakers/ headphones to appreicate the layers of experimental noise that forms some melody and doesnt insue headaches really as much as it...

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not flawless but its close., October 1, 2009

This is a very good concept album. The website that goes along with this album is probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I really suggest you purchase this album, learn it then go to the interactive website. You are in for a fantastic surprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, March 22, 2008
This review is from: Worse Than a Fairy Tale (Audio CD)
When I first listened to this album I was like: "Wow!!!" Its the best DDG ever! In most songs they decided to do less screaming parts but thats still ok. Its still loud and heavy ^^ My personal favorite tracks are "It Sounded like An Accident", "They'll never get me" and "I'm Pretty Hard To Beat". It's a must have for every DDG fan out there and even for every Hardcore fan a delight! BUY IT!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Murder mystery concept album?, March 5, 2008

This review is from: Worse Than a Fairy Tale (Audio CD)
I liked DDG's first album becouse of the piano and the singers vocal style and the sad melodies.

In this album, its not that melodic, but in exchange its become darker and chaotic. I suggest you listen to it with good speakers/ headphones to appreicate the layers of experimental noise that forms some melody and doesnt insue headaches really as much as it causes stress. So dont try relaxing to this album. There are moments of pause. But thats brief.

What i find interesting about this album is the fact that each song is suppost to be a clue, a piece to some puzzle to solve the mystery or something. I think thats ambitious on the bands part to try and push themselves and not exactly play it safe. This might be a sign of a band that might live on in the future, making wiser long term decisions to grow as musicians, to mature.

We get some reminiscent feel from the first album with track 5
"Theyll Never Get Me (Word With You)".
It has a melodic, despret chorus, but its more sophisticated and chaotic here. This is one of the more memorable tracks.

Next to that is track 6 "It Sounded Like An Accident", which carries on some of that feel i think. Its more decipherable to the ear i think. And we get the first clear sounds of a piano, and some clean vocal singing, taking a moment to slow things down.

Track 9 "Donner, Party Of 5" has an interesting, slightly magical closing to it, with some piano that sounds like it could be a melody for the star filled night sky. I wish i heard more of that in the album through out. More nice melodies like that, becouse whoever plays the piano, they can come up with nice piano melodies that add a lot to the songs.
Track 9 isnt really a stand out song to me, but i liked its last minute or so of dreamy piano and sound effects.

Song 10 has a interesting ending aswell, but a little more on the weirder side.

The final song on the album, track 12 "I Want To Master Life And Death" is probubly the best produced of all the songs, its a fitting little finale for the cd. Pulling all its stops, adding some memorable chorus and some piano to top things off, its kind of an epic track, bringing closure to the whole album. Really, its worth listening to, they did a good job with that last track for this kinda music.

And though i feel a lot of the music is so layered with so many sounds and things, and that its hard to take it all in, i think its a good effort by this band to take an ambitious step out of the safe rules of 'scene music', whatever that is lol.

Maybe i just dont yet understand this form of chaotic music, but i did find some signs of beauty and potential within this album. I think its a hard comptemplative kind of cd that REQUIRES many listens to get it all.

Again, i like how they made a concept album incorperating like a murder mystery into it, telling the story of a serial killer. Thats interesting and makes a person wanna listen to it over and over IF they wish to solve the puzzle or whatever.

I look forward to seeing what this band does next.

Not bad.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing., October 2, 2007
This review is from: Worse Than a Fairy Tale (Audio CD)
I love Drop Dead, Gorgeous. I fell completely in love with their In Vogue CD, and their Be Mine Valentine EP, they are amazing CDs.
However, this CD is a complete change in style. They took out most of the high-pitched guitar sounds, which I thought was a unique part of DDG's music. Also, the throat is rare. Most of the CD is all singing, with barely any throat, (when it does come, it is good)
I'm not saying this CD is bad, It is still DDG, and I still really like it. However this album was disappointing to me. It wasnt nearly as good as In Vogue. But still worth buying if you are a really big fan of Drop Dead, Gorgeous.

5.0 out of 5 stars great cd, September 25, 2007

this album rocks with rawness that only ross robinson can bring to the table and it clearly shows on this release. this band creates a very unique sound. if u like from first to last and norma jean at all, and even a dash of the blood brothers, then u'll love this. its not straight up metal, nor is it punk/emo either like the red jumpsuit apparatus or some other garbage. its somewhere inbetween and believe me, these guys kill it on this cd. 12 tracks of pure awesomeness exploding from ur speakers.

I was a huge fan of DDG's "In Vogue," but times have changed for this band.. The CD is simply put, awful. Its really tough to listen to after their amazing EP and I'm sure it's even harder to listen to if you don't know this band's great potential. Drop Dead Gorgeous really dropped the ball on "Worse Than a Fairy Tale," and I'm really hoping that they can redeem themselves soon..

This album was awesome from beginning to end. Alot of people are upset at lack of screaming and things like that, but honestly I still enjoy the album. It has a great sound and it's cool to see DDG trying some new stuff and it works. Sure its different but you cant expect the same album twice, if you do....your not a music fan, sorry, I love it and would reccomend it if your ready to hear them go to a new level.

Drop Dead Gorgeous brings such a unique sound to the hardcore scene. Their sound really makes them stand out. I just couldnt get into the explicit lyrics on this album you just dont need them to make a great album. Great if you like this music but not for me.
