I have read and re-read this book for three decades. If you are a Christian of any denomination this book should be in your head. It is a wonderful introduction into worship as a human experience, the specific Old Testament rites and ceremonies, and their relationship to Christian worship. All ministers should be conversant with this text as it will enrich their understanding of the worship experience to the edification of their congregations.
I am delighted it is reprinted this year. Make haste! Buy! Read! If you do, you will be back for MYSTICISM, another excellent introductory work that complements this one. I have not purchased this item from amazon.com. My copy is a 1957 Harper Torchbooks 1st paper printing of the 1937 original. These are available under used books in the amazon listings, too. I think the current edition pricey, but I have had my copy from a used bookshop thirty years ago! What would I know about pricey? |
