Fresh, powerful music with depth., March 9, 2002

Rebecca's new Worship God CD is the best worship album by one artist that I've ever heard. While sticking to the original melodies for the familiar songs and not doing anything too outrageous with the new ones, this album has a depth and power that you don't normally hear."Let My Words Be Few" is a great start to this album. Not too slow, not too heavy, it's a wonderful introduction to entering a time of worship with God. The only complaint I have about this song is Rebecca's signature "whine" at the ends of certain words. A lot of people are bothered by this, but have no fear, this is the only song where it really sticks out. "Song of Love" is my favorite song on the album. Rebecca's voice has matured so much since her release of "God", and on this cut, you can *tell*. I was thrilled with the singability of this one, considering that it's brand new. I love the chorus. "The heavens declare You are God / And the mountains rejoice..." I hadn't heard "Breathe" before I bought this album, and I assumed it was a brand new song. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it was a marvelous version of the song "This Is the Air I Breathe". It's the best version I've heard of this beautiful worship song so far. "God of Wonders" doesn't have anything special in it, but if you love the song, here's a remake. I was surprised that they decided to re-do such a recent song, and I still like the original version better. "Lamb of God" has pumping, powerful sound and lyrics straight out the Bible. I had the opportunity to sing this with a huge audience at one of Rebecca's concerts. Excellent. "Above All" isn't my favorite worship song, but I really like Rebecca's treatment of it. She speeds it up a tad, which helps. "Better is One Day" -- see my comments for "Above All". Same thing. "Quiet You" is wonderful. An original song, the words also come directly from Scripture. Almost sounds like an edgy rock ballad. "More Than the Watchmen" is milder than the rest of the songs on the album, and it's very pretty. I like the harmony on the title phrase. I didn't know you could put "It Is Well" to a solid beat, but Rebecca has done it! If you're tired of super-slow church hymns, give this one a listen. "You" is also milder, and the lyrics are a personal prayer from Rebecca to God. Very pretty. More than anything, this is a CD you can play and forget about who is singing and focus on God. Rebecca's sold-out heart comes shining through, and it is a joy to listen to her worship her Savior. I am inspired to worship whenever I listen.
