Hopefully not necessary,
By Tanja Kiorboe (Paris, France) - See all my reviews

This "survival calendar" gives a good laugh by it's serious, sober descriptions of how to face worst-case scenarios... I sincerely do hope that I will NOT need the tips - but should I be bitten by a scorpion, need to jump off a train or fight off a shark, I believe I'll have a better chance surviving now than before reading it. The calendar will make a great christmas gift too, though it lacks tips about how to survive Xmas dinner.

Love it!,

I ran across this in a store last November and immediately bought a copy for myself and one to send to a friend. We both love it! For practical purposes, it has nice big writing spaces for the dates and weird survival-related events in some spots. The advice is real, obtained from people who definitely have the practical experience needed to talk about this stuff...most of the situations are HIGHLY unlikely, which is where it gets funny. If you travel to crazy places like I occasionally do, the page about "How to pass a bribe in a foreign country." could be useful. Enjoy!

What a Hoot!,

While I hope I never need to fool a lie detector test or take a punch, it's reassuring to know that I'll be able to if I have to! Now if they could only come up with a "How to survive walking into walls/tripping down stairs/over curbs/etc. because you can't get your nose out of a book" I'd be set! An absolute must have!

Be Prepared,

this calendar is a hoot! Girl Guides teach you to BE PREPARED and this is the greatest continuation of that motto that I have ever seen! Pricey but unique.

Great corporate gift!,

I purchased this book for my sister who has a " You can't believe what happened to me this time" story ever week. In route to delivering it, my collegues got hold of it in a meeting and all you heard was laughter from the corporate conference room. One of the vice-presidents suggested it as "The corporate Christmas gift this year".

Don't buy this if you expect the pages to be funny,

I bought this for my sister b/c I thought the concept was great & it had good potential to be funny. Just got it & can't believe how deadpan the individual entries are. For this, I can read a first-aid manual. All the places where it could have been funny, in the text, it's completely serious; granted there are some funny topics, such as evading sharks, but the material, when you read it, falls flat.
