4.0 out of 5 stars What teachers' don't tell you.
I felt this book was a fairly quick read. I read it in one night.
Its funny, and gives you many good tips from how to choose the perfect mattress to how to avoid the walk of shame.
A lot of it were some good points how to know if your school is right for you, when are the best days for visiting.
If you were to read this book I would reccommend...

2.0 out of 5 stars Just...mostly dumb
I read the reviews for this before I purchased it for my Kindle. I was excited to start reading some of this advice, but once I started, I wondered why I even bothered buying this. Most of the tips in this are pretty stupid and just obnoxious, and the "good" advice were mostly just common sense things anyway. The only part of it that I enjoyed and found useful was the...

If you were to read this book I would reccommend spending an hour at Barnes and Nobles and reading. I mean its good, but that $14 could have been spent somewhere else.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Worst-Case Scenario Book for Your College Student, August 23, 2005

If you've never read a Worst-Case Scenario book before, read one. Each one is highly irreverent in its own way. This one has practical advice like "How to Ask Your Parents for Money" and "How to Avoid Going to the Wrong College", but also has goofy sections like "How to Put Out a Microwave Fire".

Even the goofy sections have practical advice, although hopefully your college student will never have to use it.

These books are a lot of fun. Check out the others, also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: College, July 13, 2010

Purchased 3 copies to give as graduation presents. I could not personally verify the applicability of the information contained due to 50 years since MY college experiences. Gave all 3 copies at the same family function. The rest of the evening was spent by the kids and others going thru chapter by chapter. Simply stated, the book was a great hit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so useful, December 31, 2011

It's not really a useful book. Really no good information in it. It is mostly a lame attempt at snarky humor. Should be filed under humor rather than college guidance.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just...mostly dumb, July 18, 2011

I read the reviews for this before I purchased it for my Kindle. I was excited to start reading some of this advice, but once I started, I wondered why I even bothered buying this. Most of the tips in this are pretty stupid and just obnoxious, and the "good" advice were mostly just common sense things anyway. The only part of it that I enjoyed and found useful was the section on how to put out a microwave fire. Obviously, others enjoyed this though, so maybe it just depends on the person and their situation. I mean, I know who my roommate will be, and I won't be having to use a public bathroom, just for some examples. Also, some of the sections that other reviews are mentioning weren't inside my Kindle version, so maybe I'm missing something...

4.0 out of 5 stars A mix of good advice and funny suggestions, April 30, 2010

This review is from: Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: College (Paperback)
You've got a bottle of Corona and no opener. What do you do. What DO you do?

The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook gives you multiple suggestions for averting this crisis, using available dorm and apartment technology. Crisis over!

Of course, college has even more potential headaches. Parents showing up unexpectedly. Laundry that simply is never done. A promiscuous roommate with squeaky bedsprings. A stadium riot. The dreaded "freshman fifteen."

What to do, and say, when you are called on by a professor to give an answer in class, and you have no idea, How to sleep in class without attracting attention. And how to survive an all-nighter.

THis book is mainly for fun. If you've experienced college, some of it will certainly bring back memories. If you are getting ready to head off to college, there are some good suggestions, but beware of that fine line between fact and fiction.

And if you are currently in college... make sure you snooze behind that volleyball player, don't wear garish clothing that brings attention to yourself, and try the finger-prop method for preventing your head from drooping onto your desk.

Have fun reading this book with friends!
