Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-4?Looking like a traditional black-and-white composition book, this "diary" should be an easy sell to children. Maureen ("Mighty Mo") Murphy writes with a flourish about her embarrassing moments throughout her first year at a new school. With each successive entry, Mighty Mo and her readers grow more accepting of the funny episodes that lead to more great days and fewer "Worst Days." This beanpole kid with shocking red hair and a determined attitude is featured in lots of expressive pictures. A snappy choice for newly independent readers.?Gale W. From Booklist

Gr. 2^-3. Because Mo's first day as a new student is filled with "a trillion totally terrible disasters," she begins writing entries in a Worst Days Diary. As the last day of school approaches, she realizes that her luck has changed. She sets aside her Worst Days Diary and begins another one--for "my GREATEST DAYS." Illustrated with colorful pictures accompanying each diary entry, the humorous story and its spunky, high-spirited heroine will capture readers' hearts and tickle their funny bones. Format: Hardcover
For reading my 8-year-old read this book to me. While this is really a "girl" book my son found it amusing. Maureen has moved to a new school and the harder she tries the more she messes up. Eventually she makes friends and does not have any more bad days. While the situations she finds herself in are funny we also learn that eventually things get better. This was a book we used for reading but also would be good for any girl who is moving.
