Careful--this is a compilation,

I bought this book without realizing that it's a compilation of A Bad Spell for the Worst Witch and The Worst Witch at Sea. I had thought it was a whole new story. However, if you're looking for those two books, they are good, and I guess this single bind-up is cheaper than buying the two other books individually.

Mildred Hubble isn't what you'd call an effective witch. Far from it, in fact. After one year at Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches she has picked up a few nifty tips and tricks as a budding witch, but even with these handy she manages to cause trouble no matter where she goes.
A BAD SPELL FOR THE WORST WITCH - Mildred Hubble may have caused trouble at Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches during her first year, but she is determined to have better results now that she's a second year student at the Academy. After all, she has learned quite a bit over the last twelve months, and she has resolved to prove that to her fellow witches, along with the intimidating Miss Cackle. But then disaster strikes. Ethel, Mildred's sworn enemy and pig-faced perfectionist, decides to teach Mildred a lesson and begins to plot revenge on the poor girl. Now Mildred has found herself in the midst of a very troubling spell, and no one can save her but herself. 5 stars. THE WORST WITCH AT SEA - When Tabby first came into Mildred's life, Mildred felt that she was an unsuitable pet for an aspiring witch. After all, Tabby wasn't all-black like the cats of the other witches. Instead, she was tabby striped. But, over the past year, Mildred has rown to love Tabby more than anything, so when she's told that little Tabby has been deemed an unsuitable pet for a witch by the Academy's officials, Mildred is devastated. Tabby doesn't want to live in the kitchen, spending his days chasing stray mice; and Mildred doesn't want to trade him in for a black kitten half his size. So when the class flies off on a school trip, Mildred concocts a plan to rescue her beloved Tabby, and take him along for the vacation of a lifetime! I fell in love with Mildred Hubble when I saw the film THE WORST WITCH on the Disney Channel years and years ago, and my fondness has only grown now that I've read four novellas starring the lovable witch. Mildred Hubble is a girl who will win your heart in mere moments. Her sweet disposition, extreme determination, and ability to find herself in an assortment of tragedies - which she manages to triumph over each and every time - is endearing; while the slew of friends and foes she encounters along the way add an extra dimension to her harrowing tales.
