I don't think I would ever tell someone that these things tasted just like regular meat hot dogs, because they just don't. Either you have to be a devoted vegetarian or have acquired the taste for these in some other way, or they just aren't for you. I grew up on these because the Worthington company used to be tied to our church denomination in Berrien Springs, Mich. They used to serve 'em in school lunches and at church potlucks or camping trips, and to this day there are trucks full of all sorts of goodies that sometimes park themselves at certain church locations for the sole purpose of selling Worthington products. I love these weenies! Even more so than regular hot dogs. Quite often I will just eat these by themselves without a bun or ketchup/mustard/etc. They have a softer texture than normal hot dogs, and they definitely are smaller. The vejalinks come in a salty sauce (kinda the consistency of watered-down maple syrup--but doesn't taste like maple syrup) to keep them juicy in the can. This probably sounds gross, but I think I like the sauce just as much as the vejalinks. I've tried other non-meat hot dogs, like some soy dogs that are in the refrigerated section of the grocery store, but I have never liked the taste as much as these. It definitely is an acquired taste, though. I am super stoked to have found these on Amazon, as previously, I would have had to drive 90 minutes to the church's division headquarters to purchase them.

These are definitely not as spicy as most hot dogs and smaller than the average, but with buns and condiments quite a good alternative to the meat-based products. A lot of people couldn't tell the difference I am sure.
