If you are a fan of NYPD BLUE or a law enforcement junkie you will enjoy this read. I personally am retired NYPD Detective.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Sipowicz
I was disappointed by this book. It was not what I thought it was going to be. I love NYPD Blue and I love Sipowicz. I was disappointed by this book. It was not what I thought it was going to be. I love NYPD Blue and I love Sipowicz. I think Sipowicz is the most interesting, complex, and real character on television. I found that many of the essays (the book is comprised of 16 essays on different themes in NYPD Blue) use Sipowicz and NYPD Blue merely as a launching pad to discuss more general topics. For example one chapter starts off discussing Sipowicz's interaction with AA, but then turns into an essay on AA, not on Sipowicz or NYPD Blue. There's not enough Sipowicz in this book for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your time or money on this book!, August 2, 2009

I should have read a closer analysis of this book. I thought it would be entertaining about past situations presented to a ficitonal character and how he responded. Instead it was a bunch of rhetoric from scholars disecting fictional situations. I would not recommend this book to any fan of NYPD Blue. BORING!
