This book provides a fairly good introduction to ethics from the perspective of the major Western Philosophers, from Socrates onward. There is also a final chapter that covers the views of ethics from the perspective oe Eastern Philosophers. The book is a very good introduction to those who know little or anything about the field. Unfortunately for anyone with any knowledge over and above that it really does not add anything in terms of knowledge or perspective. Hence 4 stars for the novice but only 1 for the those over and above.

On the positive side, the author is elucide and is a very good lecturer. Never monotone and enthusiastic and interesting throughout.

Too bad that Borders is no longer offering this, because it is excellent. Well developed. Ties together all the various schools of thought and really helps to put it all together.

Well read, but on second listen, clearly a religious bias, as evidenced by his very simplified and superficial treatment of Nietzsche and Sartre. Worth it for the treatment of the rest of the thinkers covered, but again, the content on atheist ethics is almost juvenile.
