The third edition of this work reflects the recent rapid changes in technology and knowledge in the area of wound healing. It is an evidence-based comprehensive text on wound care for the health professions. The presentation mimics the way in which a practitioner gains knowledge about a patient's condition, examines the patient, considers confounding information, develops a plan and carries through with the treatment. Explanations emphasize the scientific as well as the clinical aspects of physical agents in wound repair. New chapters in this volume include wound debridement and irrigation and documentation. New modalities chapters include evidence-based findings from clinical trials, clinical protocols for the use of various modalities and the latest interventions.

This is a great reference to have in your library. Well written and easy to find specific information in. More physical therapy oriented than nursing, so gives a great different perspective.

Very helpful in wound material, used it to help me study for my wound exam. Would recommend for anyone who is taking the exam, also a great reference material.

1.0 out of 5 stars There's got to be something better...., April 18, 2008
This review is from: Wound Healing: Alternatives in Management (Contemporary Perspectives in Rehabilitation) (Hardcover)
I was really disappointed in this text. It was required for my wound care class; I did not find it helpful at all. There were only a few color pictures in the front of the book. I feel that they could have been at least put in with the section or chapter that they were illustrating. Also, several of the practices and methods written about in here are out of date and are therefore no longer apply. Reading the text and then going to lectures was sometimes confusing because of the conflicting information. So many things have changed in wound care since this book was last updated. I certainly would not recommend this text.
