5.0 out of 5 stars Great overall sample of Bryan's work, November 10, 2008

Very rarely am I so impressed with a product ordered that it inspires me to take the small effort to write the review. But this was a great cd, and I'm excited enough to want to tell someone else to buy it.

1. Wound (Sacrificed Mix): I had previously purchased the Lust for Blood EP, and I'm fairly certain this is the mix that made the album's cut, though it is 4 seconds longer. It's definitely a good track. 4/5.

2. The Figurehead: I will start by saying I love the cure and this is possibly one of their best songs, so I was hesistant to hear a cover. Bryan more than delivers on this performance. It is darker, sexier, and more stylish than the orginal in its own right and on a different level. He revitilized this song and made it his own. Simply incredible. 5/5

3. Wound (Legacy Of the Revolution by Revolution State): The lyrics are the same in this song, main differences being that he spliced samples in it and his vocals aren't distorted. I actually like this one more because I can clearly hear his voice. I feel he is a very underrated vocalist and he stays well within his pitch range. 5/5

4. Wound (Vivisected Mix): This song is instrumental, if you don't include the samples which make for a interesting listen. I wonder if this song is laced with a subliminal message. Very graphic. 4/5

5. Ghost Regen (Fractured Coils Version by Revolution State): This one is different from Lust for Blood's cut, and I was surprised to find myself enjoying it more. It is ethereal, subconscious, and ubiquitous. The loop snares are harder than in the album's cut as well. It sounds the perfect soundtrack to Beksinski or Giger's world. 5/5

I'll admit I'm a huge fan of Velvet Acid Christ, and I understand my review to be incredibly biased so hold whatever I've said under a critical light. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars I don't know why I like this album., June 2, 2007

It is rare that I find myself listening to one of the more evil Industrial/Ebm artist on The Metropolis label...in general I prefer emotional synthpop music. However...And waht a big however this is for me....VAC has something quite attractive about them. I found myself actually enjoying the surreal darkness that VAC brings to your ears. I think that as far as Industrial music goes..this is one of the better bands out there. Sorry that I can't give you a better review,...but this the kind of music that my son likes and I generally don't care for...but for some reason I do find this to be a good album. Verry good art derection, verry spooky, and yes, verry, verry goth.

4.0 out of 5 stars VAC is Back, September 1, 2006
This review is from: Wound (Audio CD)
Well its been 3 years, but Velvet Acid Christ is back. This genre of music (EBM, industrial) is pretty much dead now. I mean face it, who still does it.. well more importantly, who else still does it and does it good?

I'm happy to announce that VAC still does it, and still does it good.

The 3 mixes of Wound are worth the admission alone. The first mix is the album cut, which had a very memorable chorus, "Like a wound that won't stop bleeding." The 2nd mix is almost the same song, only it is sang (thats right sang) by Bryan. The 3rd is an instrumental that adds some voice samples.

The Figurehead, which is a cover by The Cure, is a new direction for VAC. This song sees a live drum beat in it, which sounds very good with the trance effects. Ghost Regen, is another instrumental, but has a very spooky chorus synth in it.

I look forward to the new album in September.
