5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Awesome
This c.d. is the best of the WoW's yet. If you like Newsboys, Jars of Clay, DC Talk, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Jaci Velaquez, and all the rest, you will adore this c.d. 3.0 out of 5 stars WoW 1999 was good but still not as great as WoW 1996
WoW 1999 was a great album but not as good as the WoW '96. WoW 1996 WAS A CLASSIC. WoW 1999 is an okay album. If I were you I would buy WoW '96 the best WoW album yet. Good songs on here are Into Jesus, Little Man, Love Me Good, Never Be, God So Loved and etc. If you're an adult buy WoW 1996 if you're a teen buy Seltzer 2 instead you like better Grade:C

This c.d. is the best of the WoW's yet. If you like Newsboys, Jars of Clay, DC Talk, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Jaci Velaquez, and all the rest, you will adore this c.d. It starts out with a bang with DC Talk's "Into Jesus", Newsboys' "Entertaining Angels", and Jars of Clays'"Crazy Times". It ends really slow and sweet, and it has three bonus tracks on it from new christian singers. It has a lot of different types on it, from swing,(the W's song,"The Devil is Bad")Pop,(Out of Eden's,"If you really knew") and a little bit of fun(Veggie Tale's, "His Cheeseburger"). It's got some slow songs for stuff like bible studies, but it also has some rockin' rhythms on it if you just feel like getting up and dancing! You could argue with some of the choices in it(I frankly think they shouldn't have chosen MWS's Give me Love.)But overall this is a really good collection. I wouldn't suggest it to people who are really stuck on tradition, but it's good for teenagers, young adults, and the young at heart. Some of it sounds something like TLC, Backstreet Boys, and Alanis Morisette, for those that normally listen to secular stuff. If you're just getting into christian music, this would give you a wide variety of musicians and styles. This is the c.d. in my collection I listen to the most, and I would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys listening to good music that praises Christ Jesus!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best compilation of Christian music to date, September 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs (Audio CD)
I bought this album without prior knowledge of any of these songs, except "Into Jesus" and "For God So Loved the World". I couldn't believe how much I love this collection, the first CD especially. These are definitely some of my favorite songs ever: "Agnus Dei" (goose bumps, everytime I hear it), "Entertaining Angels - 'I hold my breath, and wait for you to breathe' " (powerful), "Deeper", "Steady On", "Testify to Love", I can't seem to get enough of these songs. There are other great songs too. Thank you Wow for showing me these great songs. I didn't know there was this much good music in the Christian circle.

A must for any contemporary Christian music lover.

This is a great CD. I just got it and i'm already hooked. The best thing about it is that i listen to it as I Fall asleep and it reminds me to pray for all the great things God has done.

This is one of the best Wow's ever made. It is such a random compilation that it actually works. There were some great bands back then. Three of my favorites Christian Artists, Smalltown Poets, Newsboys, and dc Talk all make an appearance on this stellar album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of The WOW Ever, August 22, 2002

This review is from: Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs (Audio CD)
This is by far the number one WOW cd of all times. Its got some of the best bands ever on it, like the Newsboys,DC Talk(Before they broke up), Smalltown Poets, Jars of Clay, and Supertones. What a combination! The WOW cds are a great alternative to burning cds. Why do you burn cds? so that you can get all of your favorite songs on one cd. WOW allready has most of my favorite songs on it. So I can legally listen to them. What a great idea!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best WoW CD up to that Time!, April 7, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs (Audio CD)
I have been a big customer of this CD series. I have bought every one of them from 1996-2005. The first few CDs in the series were not that great, because they would have a few contemporary christian songs and then they had a whole bus load of the crummy Gospel music. However, the WoW 1999 was the first year where they really said o.k. lets lose the gospel and stick to the contemporary rock/pop/alternative/rap Christian music. This set includes Third Days wonderful song "Agnus Dei" originally recorded by Michael W. Smith, Third Day takes it into a new genre Rock. Then there is The W's The Devil is Bad a hip swing tune about the temptation of the devil in our lives. Then we have one of the first appearances of Nichole Nordeman and Jeniffer Knapp.

To tell you the truth, if the company who puts out this series had not put this album out, I would not have bought another WoW CD simply because Gospel is not my kind of Music. However, because this CD was released I have continued buying into this franchise and I have been very pleased with every album since. Thank you for reading my review!

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is playing in my car all the time, June 18, 2001

I bought this CD when I was trying to get back into Christian music and didn't really know what artists were out there. Well, I was in for great surprise. There are so many wonderful songs on this 2 CD set. I have to say that my favorite is Third Day's version of Agnus Dei. That is such beautiful song and whenever I hear it I have to stop whatever I am doing at the moment and just listen and worship the Lord. There are also great songs from Small Town Poets, Jennifer Knapp, Delirious?, and many other great music artists. Overall this CD is a must-have for any music fan. An extra bonus is the bonus track HARD TO GET sung by Rich Mullins. It is a hauntingly beautiful song about trying to find God in the midst of human suffering. Anyway, to sum it up... Get this CD immediately!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Diverse Collection of Inspirational Songs, December 20, 1999
This review is from: Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs (Audio CD)
One of my VERY favorites CDs, period. Boo to reviewer Bob Dylan for his useless, unintelligent comment. I also disagree with most of the other criticisms here - I think the VeggieTales song is cute and unique. And Chevette is a metaphor about the bumpy road of life with Christ, not a song about a CAR. And remember folks, all these artists love Jesus, they don't have to mention His Name on every track to prove it! DC Talk, Delirious, et al. were awesome, but other outstanding tracks include songs by Fernando Ortega, Michelle Tumes, Maire Brennan, and Nichole Nordemann - the gentler side of contemporary Christian music. A must-buy! God bless you all!

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it . . . NO LOVE IT!, November 9, 1999
This review is from: Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs (Audio CD)
I love this CD, especially the first one. The hidden trac by Rich Mullins brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it. This Cd is also the perfect background for when I was reading the Left Behind series. I can't say enough good things about WOW 99. I have all of the WOW cd's and they just keep getting better. In Christ's name~

5.0 out of 5 stars My Rating On WoW 1999, August 4, 2000
This review is from: Wow 1999: The Year's 30 Top Christian Artists & Songs (Audio CD)
This is an awesome Cd of all kinds of music! From the top hits of rap and alternative rock, to slow spirituals that choke you up. I bought this cd knowing two songs, and now I have every song memorized, even with crazy dance moves, (ok, that is not always an option!)It's wonderful, and if I liked a particular group that stars on it, i went out and bought their cd. Since Wow 1999 was so great, I went out and bought Wow 2000, and it isn't half as great. I didn't reconize any of the artisit and the mix wasn't that great. So if your are considering not buying w0w 1999 because it's a year old, that stupid, the songs are still new, and great, and the artisit out talent and style into the songs, so it never gets old! I give WoW 1999 5 stars and Wow 2000 3 stars! So get Wow 1999, it is so worth it!
