The Best in Christian Music!!!! :), January 28, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Wow Hits 2001 (Audio CD)
I got WOW 2001 for christmas, and well...It's THE BEST and my favorite CD(s) I own!! The Silver Disc (DISC 1) has more slower songs than The Blue Disc (DISC 2). The Blue is more songs that teens will like. Teens will like disc 1 though also. (I know! I AM ONE) I will tell you about the highlight songs:
SILVER DISC (DISC 1)
3. Written On My Heart - Plus One: Tells about how God has "Written his love on our heart"...I could also be sang to a lover though. But It is obvious it is about GOD...:)
4. This Is Your Time - Michael W. Smith: It tells the touching and challenging Story of Cassie Bernall's martyrdom at the Columbine crisis.
6. Gather at the River (REMIX)- Point of Grace: A remix of the original song, Gather at the River. It sounds much better than the original.
10. I am the Way - Mark Schultz: A song that (as I have deduced) is about how Jesus is the only way to God; and it is also about how he has/will rescue us in our times of trouble.
16. Lord, I come Before You - Salvador: Not my favorite song on the CD, but for people who like latino music, this one is for you...:)
BLUE DISC (DISC 2)
4. Beautiful Sound - Newsboys: I personaly like the Newsboys, and this is one of the greatest songs. It tells about how when we sing, we need to/we do make a beautiful sound to the Lord.
6. Red Letters - DC Talk: A wonderful song. It tells about Jesus and his words. Has a nice piano (my favorite instrument) sound to the music. Wonderfully designed lyrics. (MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE WOW 2001 COLLECTION)
9. Reborn - Rebecca St. James: A great techno song (sounds cool) about how we are reborn when we accept God into our life. A wonderful song to show new christians.
12. Don't Look At Me - Stacie Orrico: A great song that talks about how teens have music idols these days; Stacie tells people not to look at her for perfection; that what we see is just the reflection of Christ in her.
15. Hands and Feet - Audio Adrenaline: A great song about how we need to do Gods work through his enablement. We need to be his hands and feet.
Final Conclusion: YOU HAVE TO SEE (Hear) it for yourself to beleive it!! IT'S THE BEST!!

I admit. they've redeemed themselves for some bad selections, December 21, 2000
This review is from: Wow Hits 2001 (Audio CD)
The past 3-4 WOW CDs have not been all that great to be honest. The lack of diversity and research for the best songs from the best artists left me dissapointed, and I stopped buying WOW CD's after the '98 version. But the people at WOW have finally made up for themselves and have finally started exploring other genres of Christian music than the vastly populated Mainstream and Contemporary Rock. It's great to see a variety of different types of artists getting exposure now.
Now all we need is some Zao and Peace586, and we'd all be set :) I'd definately recommend this CD set to any Christian music fan.

Very entertaining collection, March 15, 2002
This review is from: Wow Hits 2001 (Audio CD)
Let me say up front that I normally do not listen to Christian music; that's my wife's forte. I picked this up for her, but decided to give it a try. WoW is right! This is a very good collection, featuring both a fantastic mix of musical styles--pop, R&B, hip-hop, techno, alternative, gospel, and Latino--and a culturally diverse set of artists. It proves that Christian music has come a long way in the last ten years, and also illustrates why the Christian enterntainment market has grown at such an incredible rate--these artists have managed to embrace modern music stylings and sounds, but without losing their message or their beliefs. I liked some songs better than others; "Dive" by Steven Curtis Chapman was my favorite, but I also enjoyed "I am the way" by Mark Schultz, and "When I praise" by FFH. The album also features tracks by crossover artists like P.O.D. and Jaci Velasquez. If you are new to Christian music, this is a good place to start. (I think I'll look closer at my wife's CD collection now!) Highly recommended.
