4.0 out of 5 stars The first CD is great, but the second one doesn't fit the bill
For over a decade now the WOW collections have allowed fans of CCM to buy many of their favorite songs on two-disc collections. These compilations have always primarily featured what could best be called 'mainstream' CCM, and the 2003-2006 sets were excellent at featuring most of the best songs of each year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Losing touch with the Gospel
The music on this CD is good and well presented. The first CD has some of the "change your heart and soul" gospel music we have come to search for. The rest rest seems to be becoming commercial; excellent music but focussed on rhyming lyrics that have a basic God theme but lack the power of the truth. I hope the is not a trend. One of the best CD's this group put out was...

4.0 out of 5 stars The first CD is great, but the second one doesn't fit the bill, December 10, 2006
This review is from: Wow Hits 2007 (Audio CD)
For over a decade now the WOW collections have allowed fans of CCM to buy many of their favorite songs on two-disc collections. These compilations have always primarily featured what could best be called 'mainstream' CCM, and the 2003-2006 sets were excellent at featuring most of the best songs of each year.

Unfortunately, the 2007 set is the most disappointing set since 2002. The first CD in this collection continues the trend of excellence from the past few years and contains outstanding songs from the past year in CCM, including hits by the David Crowder Band, Third Day, and the Newsboys. The second CD, however, ventures largely into what I'd call 'alternative' music territory (with the occasional exception of an artist like Rebecca St. James) and is not what I've come to expect from the WOW compilations. For those who are interested in 'alternative' Christian rock, there have been (and will continue to be) the X compilations.

The WOW and X collections are put out by different labels, so maybe WOW felt the need to compete in the 'alternative' market as well. For those of us who don't like these 'alternative' styles of music, this is unfortunate as it has reduced a 2-CD set to, for all practical purposes, one CD.

Still, this 2-CD set is priced lower than many single CD's and, therefore, is still an excellent bargain. If you like all types of Christian rock, then you'll love both CD's; if, like me, you prefer the more mainstream pop - with an occasional powerful rock song - then you'll probably only enjoy the first CD. Either way it's worth the price, but I want to forewarn those who might share my disappointment in the second disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars CCM's Best Bets for 2007!, November 11, 2006
This review is from: Wow Hits 2007 (Audio CD)
This may be the best WOW yet! You have a strong collection of CCM Pop/Rock hits, the best being the catchy and worshipful My Savior, My God by Aaron Shurst, the rugged and simultaneously thoughtful "This Man" by Jeremy Camp, the poigant post miscarriage tune "Held" by Natalie Grant, the spiritually powerful "Dead Man" by Jars of Clay, and "Without You" by Big Daddy Weave. There is also an excellent contribution from Reliant K's latest release, the boisterous "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been."

I liked these songs right away, they got under my skin and became a part of my life. This cd collection is great and I highly recommend it.

The first CD has the type of music with which I most identify. This type of music moves my soul toward the spiritual growth I most desire. The second CD is edgier and does not appeal to me. However, the lyrics on the second CD are spiritually excellent. I just prefer the type of music used on the first CD. I highly recommend the album. The artist's are first rate. God has definitely blessed them with talent and they are using their talent to glorify Him in their music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow 2007 is a "WOW", January 21, 2007
This review is from: Wow Hits 2007 (Audio CD)
I love the WOW series. Christian music is such a wonderful tool for worship. The first CD (blue) is my favorite of the two. It has artist like MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Third Day and so on. That's my personal favorite type of music. The pink CD has a little more of an edgy sound. My 13 yr. old son tends to like it better. I love the CD's. I'm glad I purchased it. I hope you will get as much enjoyment out of it as I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Collection, November 25, 2006

As usual the latest WOW hits collection features many of the year's best songs in Christian music.

This double CD collection has hits from various genres including pop, rock, and worship. It has something that pretty much everyone will enjoy.

Many of the songs will be familiar to regular listeners of Christian radio. I have CDs that contain many of these songs, but there are also quite a few that I didn't have. The WOW collections are a great way to get a lot of top songs from different artists without having to buy quite as many CDs.

Of course there are songs from a particular artist that I might have chosen differently, but overall this is an excellent compilation. I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good. But Not As Good As WOW Hits 2006!!!, October 3, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Wow Hits 2007 (Audio CD)
This CD is just okay. Personally for me, they should've left out Hawk Nelson and Sanctus Real. People think that WOW Hits should have more rock, but I personally think "Why?" I mean you already have X2007 coming out soon, which is the year's TOP ROCK HITS! And I mean Hawk Nelson and SR have never even been on WOW Hits before. I definitely would replace those with ZOEgirl's "One Day" and Bethany Dillon's "Dreamer". Those songs are great! But they should have some rock, like Plumb is amazing! And RelientK, Krystal Meyers and BarlowGirl are very good! But why HNelson and SReal? Hmmmm.....

Okay the Casting Crown's song "Lifesong" is great! I have to say truly amazing! There are tons of great songs and artists on here like, Aaron Shust, MercyMe, Chris Tomlin,Natale Grant, jeremy Camp, Third Day, Matt West, David Crowder*Band, Nichole Nordeman, Brian Littrel, Michael W. Smith, Mark Schultz, Big Daddy Weave and I really like how they put out Newsboys's newest single "I Am Free"! Overall Disc 1 is amazing!!!

But Disc 2 is even better!
It features top artists, like: barlowGirls, TobyMac, Jars of Clay, Joy Williams, Superchic[k], Building 429, The Afters, Shawn McDonal, Krystal Meyers, Plumb & RelientK! But what is very weird is I think that Rebecca St. James' song "Alive" should've been "You Are Loved". Sure "Alive" got to like #14 in the US or something, but "You Are Loved" got #1 in Australia!!! And Kutless' song should've been one from "Hearts of the ". Not an old "Strong Tower" one. Disc 2 is amazing!!

And for the BONUS songs, I haven't heard any of them but they sound great!!

Love in Christ,
PlumbLuver#1

This album is awesome! If you are unsure about some artists, or Christian music in general, this is a great way to get a variety of music to try out. You won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars AVALON FAN BJ, March 8, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Wow Hits 2007 (Audio CD)
Whether your looking for today's biggest hits, or wanting to discover new favorites, "WOW Hits 2007" is for you! Both discs are great--the first disc contains more "worshipful" hits while the second disc features more rock-style songs. Artists compiled in this collection include: Casting Crowns (too much hype!), Mercyme, Chris Tomlin, Jeremy Camp (YAY!), Rebecca St. James, Building 429, Hawk Nelson (YAY!), Sanctus Real (YAY!), Michael W. Smith, Natalie Grant, Newsobys, tobyMac (P.S. - CHECK OUT TOBY'S NEW "PORTABLE SOUNDS" RELEASE... IT'S AWESOME!!!) Also features rising stars Aaron Shust, Ayiesha Woods, and new reggae-style artist Group 1 Crew.
The thing that took off a star for me was my favorite Christian artist, Avalon, not being in the lineup. I think their single "Orphans Of God" (which by the way is up for a Dove Award), should've made it on one of the discs.
Overall, a great collection of today's top artists and top hits. Highly recommended.

I bought these CDs to listen to at work and I love the variety of music. There are two discs: Blue (disc one) has Adult Contemporary and Worship songs on it. Pink (disc two) has Pop and Rock songs on it. I can listen to either CD depending on my mood and I love the variety of songs, its a great introcuction for anyone not too familliar with Christian music!
