4.0 out of 5 stars Automatron Elvis
It is very amazing but still needs some work. As one person who viewed it said it reminds one of a Japanese film which has been dubbed. His mouth is just slightly off from what he is saying. Good choice of music and interview "blurbs."

3.0 out of 5 stars Found it for $30, so I bought it.
One day when searching for WowWee Alive Lion Cub Plush Robotic Toy in Tan, I came across this Elvis robot. The price was reduced to [...], so I impulsively bought it.

For [...] it's an interesting thing to have. We like Elvis in our house, but we aren't wild Elvis fans (although I did drag my husband to Graceland while we were driving through Memphis)...

One day when searching for WowWee Alive Lion Cub Plush Robotic Toy in Tan, I came across this Elvis robot. The price was reduced to [...], so I impulsively bought it.

For [...] it's an interesting thing to have. We like Elvis in our house, but we aren't wild Elvis fans (although I did drag my husband to Graceland while we were driving through Memphis). Sometimes we listen to him, but, again, we aren't collectors and we only own one greatest hits album.

Anyways, if you're an Elvis fan, you might really want this. If you're interested in robotics, you might really want this, too. Otherwise, I can't see the point in owning this thing-- unless you get it for thirty dollars, as I did. And, even for thirty, I really don't know what to do with this. After the initial novelty wears off (quickly), there's not much to do except put it in your Elvis shrine, which we don't have.

Elvis' remote control is shaped like a microphone and works very well. He has several different modes-- singing, talking, moving, not moving, and karaoke mode. He sings eight different songs and runs through two or three monologues-- clips of interviews he's done. He also has an interactive mode where he can follow your movements with his eyes and make some quips in response to your presence. He sounds an awful lot like the real Elvis, but doesn't exactly look like the real Elvis. Adding a pair of Retro Silver / Gold Elvis Presley Party Sunglasses adds to his look and, since I had a similar pair of sunglasses, that's what I did.

He comes with one cartridge, and that cartridge is needed to have him work. Make sure yours also comes with the cartridge. Mine was included in the shipping box, but not in the Elvis box itself. So, I'm not sure it's included with every purchase. It says cartridge 1 on it, and I haven't seen anymore cartridges for sale. I'm not sure there are any more for sale or that there have ever been any others for sale.

Elvis' movements are pretty fluid, although you can hear the mechanisms moving while he moves. He has the lip sneer going, he moves his neck side to side and slightly up and down. He moves his eyes, and he is fairly expressive. His hair is not easy to style (though, admittedly, I didn't really try except for brushing it), and my robot arrived with a plastic band to hold the hair in place in the box. When I removed this plastic band, his hair had a seemingly-permanent bend in it. I suppose I could use some Brylcreem Hair Cream, Blue - 2.5 Oz on him, but I doubt that's recommended. ;)

Anyways, I'm satisfied with this purchase because I know I got a deal-- although it isn't something I had thought I wanted. My 12 year old son is interested in robotics, however, so I think he'll really like him and if he eventually wants to take him apart, I'd be okay with that, too.

He takes batteries, but also comes with a convenient ac adapter and responds well to his remote.

I am a little disappointed with this item, Elvis's eyes are eery looking and takes away from the realness look. He does sing and talk which is cool, just don't look into his eyes when you are playing him. (I put a pair of Elvis sunglasses on him) The first robot I received did not work at all, but I contacted the company and they sent me a replacement. Overall I am pleased with this item even though it didn't live up to my original expectations.

I initially discovered this product in 2007{when it was first released}, thanks to a segment on "The Late Show with David Letterman{about upcoming summer toys/gadgets}.

As a life-long supporter of both animatronics and Elvis Presley, I was blown awayby its realism{but couldn't afford its debut asking price}.

Fast-forward to June of this year, and I came across a flea market dealer selling one of these for slightly under its '07 value{yet he wouldn't demonstrate Elvis' functions to us buyers}.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Amazon was selling multiple WoWWEe Alive Presleys, and at discounted rates{the one that I bought was sold directly from this site itself}.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase, as the attention to detail is astonshing.

Although Elvis has more interview clips{37} than songs{8}, I still feel like I'm able to step into "The King"'s thoughts{not to mention his blue suede shoes}.

I hope that WoWWEe eventually decides to produce more Song/Monologue cartridges{however unlikely that may be at this point}.

I have nothing but positive things about Amazon's handling of my product, as it was sturdily packaged, and promptly shipped.

If you consider yourself to be an Elvis enthusiast, animatronics enthusiast, or both{like me}: the Alive Elvis is an excellent gift, and a fine conversation piece!

As he says on the cartridge, "A word to my critics: Yes, I AM alive!"

3.0 out of 5 stars So-so overall, but not too bad, June 1, 2011

We bought this odd item to go in an Elvis-themed area of our rec room. The dog was totally creeped out, but the humans in the house have enjoyed it at times, particularly guests. Several songs and a number of trivial facts presented by a pretty good voice double produce an adequately-authentic result. Built-in motion sensors enable 'Elvis' to interact with observers in a way that is initially amusing (though the canned speech is limited and repetitive). As at least one other reviewer mentioned, this guy looks much better wearing a pair of cheap Elvis-style shiny sunglasses. Our machine didn't work well from the get-go: there was some sort of issue with the plastic gears involved in animating the face and head, some of which do not function properly and are very noisy when in operation (think: the laborious sounds of a wind-up toy ALL THE TIME that the robot is turned on). In all this is a fun item, but not so great for frequent use.

I Think he is Great! I did put my Elvis Sun Glasses on him to make him look a little more like Elvis. I am going to put him in my 68' Mustang this summer at the car shows. I'm looking forward to a great summer, it will be a lot of fun watching people do a double take at Elvis in my COMEBACK SPECIAL.

My sisters and I gave this to my dad, an Elvis fan, and he really loved it. It sort of creeped out the younger kids, but we really had a blast with it. The sound quality is great and it has a lot of really neat functions. My only dissapointment was that there are not a lot of songs on the provided disk. You can buy additional ones, however. This is one of those items that will provide years of fun and is certainly a conversational piece. By the way, when it arrived we were shocked how large it was.

Elvis is alive in this robot. The Elvis fan I gave it to was totally elated with the realism of his movements. I am really impressed with the quality of this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars I WAS WAITING FOR THE PRICE TO GO DOWN AND IT DID!!!, March 6, 2008
This review is from: WoWWEe Alive Elvis (Electronics)
This is an incredible piece of technology brought to life by WOWEE! When this robot of Elvis first came out the price was so out of reach for me that I had it on my wish list for over a year. DO NOT PASS THIS UP! At the price it is being offered now Elvis will leave the building destined to become one of the top collectibles of THE KING ever made.

Keep in mind that this is the first, to my knowledge, of an Elvis robot. It is also creepy...AND I LOVE CREEPY COLLECTIBLES.
Watch the video and you will be hooked like me. Even if your not an Elvis fan, you won't be sorry for the purchase. This is an amazing work of technology and art form.

I truly hope this review helped you, especially at such an affordable price. Steve
