5.0 out of 5 stars Love this RC flyer!
Tons of fun on one set of batteries so far (6 AA's). My daughter and I have been flying this thing daily for 3 weeks and we've yet to swap out the batteries for new ones. Quick 10 minute charges give a good 10 minutes of flight time. Controls are hard at first but you'll get the hang of it. It's very durable and takes hard landings very well. As you get better you...

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to fly
I purchased this item at Sharper Image for my 13 year old son. My first clue should have been when the salesperson told me the best thing I could do was purchase the $5 extended warranty for this item because "it will break" (his exact words).

We have had the flyer for five weeks now and while it has not broke, it certainly has not flown very well. Unless you...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this RC flyer!, May 11, 2007

Tons of fun on one set of batteries so far (6 AA's). My daughter and I have been flying this thing daily for 3 weeks and we've yet to swap out the batteries for new ones. Quick 10 minute charges give a good 10 minutes of flight time. Controls are hard at first but you'll get the hang of it. It's very durable and takes hard landings very well. As you get better you can land it better too, and even take off from a flat surface as long as you have a long enough "runway." I fly it indoors but prefer to fly it outside when the wind is minimal. Strong winds can completely take over your "Dragonfly" so be careful especially as you get up into the 40-50 feet altitude and the winds get stronger, you won't want to lose one of these guys. Absolutely worth the money and it even comes with replacement wings and a replacement tail rotor, just in case. Highly recommended to fun lovers everywhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars A marvel, but tricky and best for geeks, May 28, 2007
This review is from: WowWee FlyTech R/C Dragonfly (WW260BLU) (Toy)
I bought this item at a big box store today. It really is a technological marvel. It's the first of it's kind, and considering that, it's wonderful and inexpensive. But being the first, I wouldn't say it's ready for everybody yet. It relatively easy to learn in the right conditions. The only problem is that it really works best in a large indoor space, something which many people don't have much access too. My house has quite large dining and living rooms (not quite the minimum 16x16 feet they recommend). I found this to not be enough. Luckily it's not too windy today, and I was able to get some good flights when there was only the slightest breeze. Unfortunately, to get the most out of it, you really need a large indoor space. For that reason, I would recommend it mostly for aeronautical or technology geeks who don't care about the drawbacks, because of the marvel it truly is nonetheless. So if that's you, or you have easy access to a nice big space, buy it. If not, wait a bit to see if something better is available down the line. Though I'm not sure it'll be easy to make something any better, since in order to work, a wing-beat powered machine needs to be very light, and thus very vulnerable to wind.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to fly, October 8, 2007
This review is from: WowWee FlyTech R/C Dragonfly (WW260BLU) (Toy)
I purchased this item at Sharper Image for my 13 year old son. My first clue should have been when the salesperson told me the best thing I could do was purchase the $5 extended warranty for this item because "it will break" (his exact words).

We have had the flyer for five weeks now and while it has not broke, it certainly has not flown very well. Unless you have a room about the size of a gymnasium, this toy will not work too well. It typically bumps into walls or furniture and once it does it falls to the ground. Neither one of us has had a successful flight of more than 20 seconds without it crashing. I have a fairly large house with open rooms too.

We took it outside and that worked a little better unless there is the slightest bit of a breeze then it comes crashing down.

I do not believe the commercial that shows the dragonfly maneuvering through a small open window... I don't think that is possible.

A few other negatives to consider:
1. It is very noisy and will annoy anyone that is anywhere near it when it is flying.
2. It interferes with other wireless devices. I cannot use my wireless mouse and keyboard when this toy is on.
3. Has a short battery life...7 minutes if you're lucky.

I would not recommend purchasing this item.

I bought this little gadget this morning and my husband and i have been flying it all day in between charges. so far we've crashed it about...well everytime we fly it, so at least 20 times now and nothing has broken or shows any signs of doing so. we haven't quite figured out how to get it to go where we'd like but its still been fun. we get about 5 good minutes out of it. you have to fly it with almost no breeze or wind or else it just wont work. we were flying it outside and this became a small problem, so we'd wait till it passed then try launching it. my husband was able to get it to stay up for a good amount of time as was i a few times. this would work great indoors since there is no breeze whatsoever. we have too many breakables so we're not about to do this inside. it charges from the remote, so you can take this anywhere and not have to worry about having an outlet for recharging which is nice. all in all its been fun. my husband likes it, but the price is a little steep for something that gives you amusement in 5 minutes increments.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just plain fun!!!, May 28, 2007
This review is from: WowWee FlyTech R/C Dragonfly (WW260BLU) (Toy)
I bought this on a whim, and am I glad I did. This is the first flying RC I have ever bought, and right out of the package, with 10 minutes of practice I had this beast flying 40 feet in the air. Very durable (a plus when you are beginning), this thing flies indoors and outdoors. I fly it in the gymnasium where I work. Outside, the wind must be minimal, but the sky is the limit. The more you play, the better you get at doing tricks and dives. A great bonus is it charges off the remote (6AA), flies around 8-10 minutes a charge, recharges in 20-30 minutes. Just plain fun.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy, November 4, 2007

I'm giving this two stars mostly based on the fact that it is innovative, and I love new and different toys... But...
I got this for my 10 year old son for his birthday. First day out of the box, it broke... have to replace the wings already. This toy is NOT durable at all. I was really hoping this would be great fun, but it's turned out to be a major hassle/disappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Indoor toy, that needs outdoor room., July 19, 2007
This review is from: WowWee FlyTech R/C Dragonfly (WW260BLU) (Toy)
I bought this product from the local Wal-Mart and was hoping for a flying toy to play with in the house. Mainly the goal was a toy to tease the cat with.

I got it out of the package all batteries in, and lift off. By the time it gets flying I had burned up my 20ft long living room. This thing does not turn very well, so it hit the wall. I thought no biggie its gonna take time.

I brought it outside to see what area is needed to fly it, the minimum U turn was about 20-25 feet, and the only other control you have is up. Hit the stick to climb and let off to make it fall. The longest flight I had was about 1 minute and then it crashed, again.

It isn't a good toy for inside or out, I was lucky there was no wind that night. This is not meant for normal houses with 12 foot wide rooms or smaller, and with 8 foot ceilings. You can't have many obstructions, if any.

I returned this thing after 1 frustrating day. It was flat out not what I was looking for. I need something that will hover better and steer nicer.
