I pre-ordered this book and read it straight through this morning..the day it came out. Typically series get weaker as they go on, but this one is getting better and better. I loved that the author injected some humor, with the dialog between the two ladies, in this one!
I know I might be in the minority but do NOT care how believable it is for the heroin and hero to fall n love so quickly. I read romance because I like happy endings and I like the idea of true romance..and these two had it!
I can't wait for more stories...keep them coming!

I will admit, I have a love/hate relationship with this author. I either love the books or truly dislike them. The good ones are spot on and very enjoyable reads. The bad ones are...I do keep trying because of the ones I have loved. However, the dislike is outnumbering the like column.
I dislike what seems to be a perpetual rape theme running through the books. I read for escape/enjoyment. Evil, harsh rape scenarios over, over and over are tired and emotionally stressful. I overlook it most times, but I don't think I can any more. GET A NEW THEME. It is too pervasive. Find a new way to develop angst between characters. The lack of mutual respect and relationship development is insulting. The dialogue, oh my goodness...don't get me started there. I am an adult, not a Tween.
These women were...trite. Amanda was locked in high school. She was emotionally stunted and needed help. She doesn't deserve Flame. I agree with other reviewers. I want to read about why someone is special. She can be plus sized, this is actually refreshing for me. I tire of reading about size 2 models. Give us a plump heroine any day, but confident, special, pretty hair, smooth skin, glowing eyes...give us something to work with here. Give her OTHER special qualities. Off the charts psychic ability, math whiz, science skills, doctor, writer, mechanic, photographer....cook even, somthin'. Just give her something special. Overcome the weight issue, make us believe in her too. Because I am not believing her smell is a drug stuff...OK, so what else do you like beyond the sex? Erotica is HOT when it is written well. Here it isn't. In my opinion, an emotional bond is important to maintain the relationship because though the passion sizzles at first, the flames die to embers and the emotional connection is what sustains the love. The embers can be stoked to flare up in every strong relationship, but the love bond is important long term. I don't see that being developed in this book. I was interested, let's say, with the first two books. Valiant was my favorite of the series and kept me reading. The later ones were a significant disappointment, this being the worst of them all, I am afraid.
I know this has been addressed in reviews for the first books in the series, but these books bear a striking resemblance to Lora Leigh's breed series. Even more as the series progresses. I read these because I did enjoy the breeds series. Even though I enjoyed a few of these books, this is not a good challenger for the breeds series.
I may keep this trying with the author, but just not this series...

Loved the story, enjoyed the characters. I am hoping the teaser with Amanda and Flame show up in a story all of their own. I also liked the teaser at the end with Breeze mentioning a human male.
Keep writing the series and I am sure we will all keep reading. I like that we also get a brief look at past characters.
Hopefully the next species book is not to far away.

Still great...
I enjoyed this book maybe not as much as the other New Species books. I still strongly recommend these books if you enjoy paranormal romance. Laurannn Dohner is a gifted writer.
