Hilarious Compilation of Cartoons,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Wreckage Begins with "W": Cartoons of the Bush Administration (Paperback)
If you like Danziger's work this is a great compilation. The artwork is excellent, the humor is cutting and provocative. This is a cartoonist who can make a picture speak a thousand words. Danziger captures the emotion of the world events that have impacted us all, and still makes them funny with a dry sardonic wit. Many of the cartoons are very poignant.
If you think politicians and the poweful deserve referential treatment and respect, by virtue of their position, don't buy this book, unless you want to be outraged. The title, Wreckage begins with W doesn't really do the collection of cartoons justice - it covers the full spectrum of events over the last four years. It goes far beyond lampooning one easy target (not to say that coverage of W is in any way lacking!). This is a must read book for anyone who enjoys political cartoons and satire.

Some of the best political cartoons ever created,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Wreckage Begins with "W": Cartoons of the Bush Administration (Paperback)
It takes a sharp pen to draw the narrow lines of a detailed cartoon, but the sharpest characteristic of Danzinger's pens is the probing that it does into the sensitive areas of the administration of George W. Bush. The number of failures of the Bush administration is amazingly high, in quantity and quality, both foreign and domestic.
Danzinger's cartoons are honest and to the point, although one must possess some knowledge of the history of the eight years in order to truly appreciate the depth of the point. Danzinger is a Vietnam veteran and my favorite cartoon appears in the foreword by Frank Miller. It shows the heads of fifteen famous conservatives and one famous liberal poking out from under a bed. The caption is "We Weren't Soldiers! They experienced the Hell of Vietnam (from a Nice Safe Place)." This is a demonstration of a semi-truism of the American political landscape, namely that it is the people that avoided serving in a war that are generally the most willing to send their nation into war. These are some of the best political cartoons ever drawn.

There is nothing funny about the Bush White House,
By Joe Mac Guy "NA" (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Wreckage Begins with "W": Cartoons of the Bush Administration (Paperback)
The current Presidental adminstration will already go down as one of the worst in American History. Stealing the 2000 Election, the mistakes made on the war on terror after 9/11, getting us caught in a war that is Vietnam all over again, getting advice from military people who have the brains of two year olds, and having spokespersons at the news conference who have the people skills of a bully three year olds. These cartoons are not funny, they are sadly all too real.
